BREAKING: Gov. Meyer Makes Several Endorsements–Including Three Of My Faves!

Said three being Shay Frisby, Adriana Leela Bohm, and Rae Krantz!

Here is the press release from Gov. Meyer:

Wilmington, DE — August 18, 2026 — Today, Governor Matt Meyer endorsed 10 candidates running in the September Democratic primary. Each candidate is committed to taking on the state’s toughest battles, regardless of the odds, and is ready to work tirelessly for the people of Delaware.

Attorney General:

  • AG Kathy Jennings, running for re-election

“Attorney General Jennings has been a fearless defender of justice, equality and the rule of law. Her unwavering commitment to protecting our rights and standing up for Delawareans is exactly what we need right now,” said Governor Meyer. “I am proud to endorse Kathy for re-election and look forward to continuing our work together to build a stronger, fairer future for all.”

State Senate:

  • Adriana Bohm, running in SD 1

“Adriana has spent her career doing the hard, unglamorous work that actually changes people’s lives. From teaching in the classroom to standing with her union to serving ten years on the Red Clay School Board without ever missing a meeting or ducking a vote, she always shows up for our community,” said Governor Meyer. “Delaware’s First District needs a State Senator who shows up and builds real coalitions instead of just making promises, and that’s exactly the leader Adriana has always been.”

  • Shay Frisby, running in SD 5

“As State Senator, Shay Frisby will utilize her years of experience in state government and union organizing to deliver lasting change,” said Governor Meyer. “It is my firm belief that Shay Frisby is the champion that Delaware’s working class needs in the State Senate.”Nisha Lodhavia, running in SD 15

“Nisha has spent her career in the classroom because she believes every student deserves a shot at real opportunity, and she’ll bring that same tireless advocacy for students and educators to the State Senate,” said Governor Meyer. “As the daughter of educators and a teacher herself, she knows exactly what our schools need to succeed, and Kent County families will have a fierce champion for kids fighting for them in Dover.”

State House of Representatives:

  • Rep. Alonna Berry, running for re-election in RD 20

“Alonna isn’t the type of leader who waits to take action. Whether she’s fighting for gun safety and affordable rural healthcare or standing in the mud at Prime Hook because that’s where her constituents are, Alonna brings the fire of someone who comes from a family that’s always answered the call to serve,” said Governor Meyer. “Delaware doesn’t need more politicians who talk about public service; we need more people like Alonna Berry who actually live it, and I’m proud to stand with her in her re-election.”

  • Rep. Krista Griffith, running for re-election in RD 12

“Few people make a career out of giving a voice to the voiceless. One of those people is Representative Krista Griffith,” said Governor Meyer. “Whether it’s fighting to keep children safe from gun violence, protecting women from domestic abuse, or ensuring every Delawarean’s personal data is safe from big tech, Krista not only shows up but delivers. Now more than ever, we need to send her back to Dover.”

  • Rep. Nnamdi Chukwuocha, running for re-election in RD 1

“Nnamdi brings a rare understanding of what Delaware families actually need, and he’s put that understanding to work fighting for educational equity, championing our seniors, and standing up for our veterans,” said Governor Meyer. “Nnamdi is exactly the kind of leader who brings people together to solve problems, and Delaware will be better served with him in Dover.”

  • Rae Krantz, running in RD 6

“Rae’s fight for affordable lives, safer streets, and clean air and water reflects exactly the kind of forward-looking, practical leadership Delaware needs as our communities face faster change than ever before,” said Governor Meyer. “As a mom, a foster parent, and a tireless advocate, Rae brings the creativity and urgency our state needs to build an economy and a future where every Delaware kid can thrive.”

  • Dave Redlawsk, running in RD 23

“We build a fairer Delaware by electing committed local leaders who are unafraid to challenge systems and fight for working people. Dave’s background as a UD professor and years of on-the-ground activism in Newark have given him the perspective to faithfully represent the constituents of the 23rd district and the experience to hit the ground running in Dover.”

New Castle County Council:

  • Kyle Grantham, Running for New Castle County Council, District 3

“Kyle delivered extraordinary results for New Castle County during my eight years as County Executive because he never lost sight of who he was serving. He’s deeply committed to building stronger communities, expanding opportunity, and making government work for everyone. As the next County Councilman for the Third District, Kyle will bring integrity, transparency, and a tireless dedication to public service to the Council. I’m proud to support him and look forward to working together again to improve the lives of Delawareans.”

Yes, I outright disagree with some of these endorsements.  But for Adriana, Shay, and Rae, this is a big boost.  All you have to do (OK, I did it) is to go through the campaign finance reports for Matt from 2024.  Pages of contributors from SD 5 alone.

It’s a testament to Shay’s capability as a candidate, her passionate commitment to the broader left movement, and the skilled work of her campaign that she secured an endorsement from the incumbent governor (while also being endorsed by Bernie Sanders, DSA, and WFP!).

The primary is September 15th, she takes absolutely no corporate (or other business) money, and certainly doesn’t take money from powerful Republicans like her opponent does. I think everyone reading this should donate $10 if they want to see an experienced working class fighter deliver lasting change:

    • Did Meyer endorse them because he shares their politics, or merely because he sees them as allies in fighting the old-guard Democrats? My guess, based on his past conduct and disagreements with the party establishment, would be the latter.

        • Yes, I was only talking about the three you singled out. I disagree with several of them, including that mush-mouthed paragraph of nothing he endorsed Kyle Grantham with. Grantham should serve chicken with his waffles on data centers.

          • Grantham has managed the feat of being endorsed by EVERY SINGLE MEMBER OF COUNCIL WHO SUPPORTS DATA CENTERS.

These are questions for the Governor, but regardless, Shay earned this endorsement through an incredible work ethic and a focus squarely on material results for people. Which is all the more reason to donate.
