Pulling a Norm Coleman

Filed in Delaware by on April 23, 2009

Back in the early 2000s, there was this dick of a senator from Pennsylvania named Rick Santorum. He was such a schmutz that words like dick , schmutz, asshole, etc. could not encompasses his Santorumness. This lead sex-columunist Dan Savage to start a contest to define what santorum means. Go to the Wikipedia article to see what it means.

Fast forward two wars and several years to when Larry King, in an on-air conversation with Ashton Kutcher, brings a new phrase to our venacular: pulling a norm coleman. (h/t Minnesota’s MN Progressive Project).

According to the Urban Dictionary:

pulling a norm coleman: The dogged pursuit of a hopeless goal, with utter disregard for a preponderance of contradicting evidence and mounting public distain.

Example: It seems at every election cycle, Mike Protack pulls a norm coleman when he runs for office.
