Conservatives Are The Reason Support For Gay Marriage Is Rising

Filed in National by on May 1, 2009

Conservatives are becoming hysterical, and their rhetoric proves it.

“The NOM has argued that it is not a homophobic organization, but Card’s remarks suggest otherwise. Card, who represents the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on the board and received an effusive welcome last week from NOM president Maggie Gallagher, supports criminalizing sex between same-sex adults:

Laws against homosexual behavior should remain on the books…to be used when necessary to send a clear message that those who flagrantly violate society’s regulation of sexual behavior cannot be permitted to remain as acceptable, equal citizens.

“Card has also advocated overthrowing the government if same-sex marriage is permitted:

How long before married people answer the dictators thus: Regardless of law, marriage has only one definition, and any government that attempts to change it is my mortal enemy. I will act to destroy that government and bring it down, so it can be replaced with a government that will respect and support marriage, and help me raise my children in a society where they will expect to marry in their turn.

Biological imperatives trump laws. American government cannot fight against marriage and hope to endure. If the Constitution is defined in such a way as to destroy the privileged position of marriage, it is that insane Constitution, not marriage, that will die.

Mortal enemy?  Destroy that government?  Insane Constitution, not marriage, that will die?  And my personal favorite:  flagrantly violate society’s regulation of sexual behavior.

And then there’s our local conservative with one of my all-time favorite comments:

When you go to the great white throne judgment, God won’t ask your tax policy. He will judge your abortion policy. Money is not the be all end all.

Besides your long run economic policies are scary. There won’t be many rich white guys left or black women or Latinos for that matter. The American dream will be on life support until Sarah Palin comes and saves us all.

Ladies and gentlemen, allow me to present the 21%.  Actually, with talk like this my money is on that number dropping lower.  Conservatives are on a suicide march, and they’re intent on dragging what’s left of the Republican Party (all 10 of them) over the cliff with them.  Face it moderates, you’re outnumbered within the current ranks of your party.  You missed the opportunity to get a handle on your social conservatives.  For years you’ve relied on this group for votes, knowing darn well that compromise wasn’t part of their vocabulary.  Now, the table has flipped, and not to get all biblical on you, but… you’ve reaped what you’ve sown.

I wonder how Smitty feels to still be associated with these 21%ers.

Yes, one of my favorite wingnut comments EVER! Sarah Palin is the messiah. So much awesomeness!
