Hypocrisy, European style

Filed in Uncategorized by on December 6, 2007

Here at Dellib we like to give you the world view of things.  You know, stuff you won’t find on the local papers.  So this is a special post from a man I will call “The Turk”  he’s the only one I know, besides the ones that own all the diners on the East Coast.

I do not know if you knew that Sarkozy is/was in Algeria very recently.

What’s surprising and appalling is Europe’s, Mr. Sarkozy’s hypocrisy. As you may know, some Europeans, especially Sarkozy, at every opportunity in the past, has “reminded” Turkey to “accept” its past and accept the claims of the “so-called Armenian Genocide”: and went even so far as attempting to make this a precondition on EU accession talks.

However, Sarkozy, when asked about the tragic 10 years (1952-1962) of Algerian struggle which left 2.5 million Algerians killed, for which the Algerian government has repeatedly asked for an official apology many many years, said: “I told Abdelaziz Belkhadem (Algeria’s prime minister) that you can’t ask sons to say sorry for their fathers’ mistakes”.

Whooo-haaaaaw….Check that out….He also continued saying “You need to leave past, historic events to historians, not to politicians” Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat???? Hold on a second…Mr. Sarkozy right…It’s not Arkin speaking there???

Wow. What a change of policy all of a sudden. The French parliament has recently approved legislation that makes denying the so-called Armenian genocide a crime, punishable by a prison sentence. However, when it comes to the dark past of France, Paris is OK to leave the argument to historians.

Regarding French crimes and mess killing by French during the colonial period (I more call it imperialist period, invasion period), which included concentration camps and torture and mess killings, Nicolas Sarkozy insisted that suffering took place on both sides and that no official apology would be made, despite repeated calls from the Algerian government in recent years…

Come on now……..

All western genocidal imperialists or should just apologize already. What’s so hard about apologizing? Just say sorry and if that doesn’t make everyone happy just keep saying sorry over and over again. What’s the downside?

    There is no downside.

Recently I have been composing my apology on behalf of all homo sapiens to homo sapiens neanderthalis for the outright imperialistic invasion of Europe between 75-95,000 years ago.

To those who maintain that this is merely an attempt to suck up to a trendy oppressed minority, I’d remind them that only since GEICO added the cavemen to the gecko have I had anybody to apologize to without committing grave robbery.

  3. Steve Newton says:

Oh, yeah, and I forgot that apology to the Aztecs for ruining their deeply religious mass human sacrifices atop those cool pyramids.

    wamm bamm thank you mam

Since my lovely bride Dragonwife says I am a homo sapiens neanderthalis, but in not so nice terms, I state for the record that I hold no grudges to my more advanced kinfolk.

So now you’re trying to get banned in France, too?

For those of you who attended Delaware public schools and couldn’t find Algeria on a map, I recommend reading The Battle of the Casbah, by Paul Aussaresses, the French general who ran counter-terror ops there in the late 50s. Hooh boy, no candy-ass waterboarding for that guy!

Oh, and I always assumed Don V was a Cro-Mag.

“Do as I say”, and “Don’t do what I do”. Sarkozy’s — and most of Europe’s — hypocrisy does not end there. While they criticize Turkey for limiting freedom of speech, i.e. Article 301, they pass laws that make questioning the validity of an Armenian genocide a crime punishable by imprisonment. A few years ago, Bernard Lewis, the preeminent historian, dared say that the massacres of the Armenians cannot be classified as genocide. Consequently, he was given a prison sentence that was reduced to a symbolic monetary punishment.

It is not as though the Turks were convicted of genocide in an international court of law, a la Nuremberg. This never happened.

Unfortunately, throughout history, millions of civilians, along with the military, have been killed. During the Turkish-Armenian conflict, the Armenians at times had over a 100,000 armed-militia and revolted against their state. This is called a civil war. Now they cry foul and present themselves as having been innocent bystanders. They are ambitious alright; not only for “apology”, but also to gain reparations in the billions of dollars and territory from today’s Turkey.

    Dream on, Armenians!

  8. Sefer Tan says:

Turks fully acknowledge and regret the great suffering which the Armenians as well as the Turks sustained 92 years ago, and they fully acknowledge the deaths on both sides. No one is opposed to the Armenians remembering this sad tragedy which happened to their ancestors. But labelling it “genocide” is an intolerable slander against the Turkish People. This is why the Turkish people will never accept the “genocide” label for this event. Remember: Any war sounds like a genocide, if the dead of only one side is counted!
