Delaware Senate Demands Vote On HCR 38
I don’t know anyhting about this,
WHERAS, 8 of 21 Delaware State Senators or 74.5% already of the 51% required for passage, have signed on as a sponsor of HCR 38.
WHEREAS, everyday this topic is forefront in the minds of all Delawareans, whether itt was placed there through news outlets, advertising commercials, or discussions on talk radio,
WHEREAS, more than 90% of Delawareans are in favor of passage of this bill.
…so read and comment over at Kavips.
I’m blocked from commenting on his blog (work thing, not kavips’ issue), so I’ll drop it here.
What’s odd is his copy says it is SR19 for GA144. If you go to the legislative web site, there is no mention of what kavips has and SR19 is completely different!
Copy/paste with link to SR19 below (and it’s your boy, McDowell, the esteemed Senator representing Wilmingtown/Middleton):
Did SR19 actually disappear at the hands of McDowell? OK, that really would be a stretch, but it’s a coinky-dink!
Or maybe kavips simply made it up to make a point, or just to amuse us.
WHEREAS, Delmarva Power historically does not negotiate in good faith,
Yeah. I’m thinking that Tom has it right.
That’s what I get for not reading in verbatum!!! WHEREAS, Delmarva Power historically does not negotiate in good faith, Um…there actually is some truth to that, though….I give you deregulation. Their lobbyists!
He should have made it SR666…or SR69 to show the relationship of McDowell and Stockbridge!!!
I love how insidery the Stockbridge quote was the other day. He made sure that we all know that he and DeLuca are on first name basis. Tony, we don’t know ya but Gary does?
Does anyone have a problem with the math here? 8 out of 21 is 38%, not 74%.

Well, nice to know I wasn’t the only one not to read it verbatum!
In his now-known-to-be spoof, kavips said:
A required 51% for passage would be 51% of 21, or 10.71 Senators. For the sake of not being gruesome, let’s take that .71 of a Senator and make it 11 whole Senators. 74.5% of 11 is 8.195 Senators, or keeping it from being a bloody mess of mutilation some poor Senator, 8 whole Senators. So, yes, allowing for rounding, 8=74.5% of 51% of 21.
Yes, the math works.
The old percent of a percent trick.
BTW that typo “WHERAS” is mine.
Natch’
I just linked over to Tom Noyes and left a message for Tony DeLuca which the receptionist said she would email to him.
They don’t get back in session until Tuesday but the emails are going through, evidently.
