Nice to see Joe Biden (D-Scranton) turning his back on Delaware. Makes me feel all warm inside.

  2. delawaredem says:

Funny. Where is your outrage at McCain turning his back on the Panama Canal. For it was were he was born.

  3. pandora says:

Loved the red tie/blue tie image!

  4. Kate says:

I am deeply hurt that he calls Scranton home.

  5. david says:

Can I defend Senator Biden for a moment? This is a PA ad. PA has what 23 electorial votes and Delaware has 3.

I liked it. It was a good old fashion values ad which could blunt some of the bitter comment damage left over.

  6. Kate says:

It is basically disingenuous and pandering to Pennsylvanians.

So if that is how he wants to win votes . . .

  7. delawaredem says:

Kate, you are the one being disingenuous. He was born and raised for 10 years in Scranton, PA. What, just because he has lived in and represented Delaware since then he should ignore part of his childhood?

If McCain was born and raised in PA you bet for damn sure he would be cutting the exact same ad.

    So screw your fake outrage.

  8. cassandra m says:

It isn’t pandering — Biden has been known (for better or worse) as the 3rd Senator from Pennsylvania and I’ve even read some stuff from pols in South Jersey who claim him too. Biden has made a point of helping delegations regionally which you can complain about, but he is reaping some benefits now.

  9. Kate says:

    You’re right DD.

He has been disingenuous to Delawarians all these years . . .

  10. pandora says:

Ah… Kate shows her true colors. For a moment I wasn’t sure where she was coming from.

  11. Kate says:

He should be calling Delaware his home. He has lived here for 55+ years. He has been our Senator for 36 years.

  12. I agree with Kate. But I also understand why he is doing it. the pa voters need to identify with someone and if this helps, then so be it.

McCain got his VP b/c she is Evangelical
Obama b/c he was from PA

I feel less dirty knowing that

  13. jason330 says:

I love this line of attack against Biden. It screams, “We’ve got nothin’!!”

  14. mike says:

It’s a good ad; stresses values and brings the focus through Biden and to Obama. I see nothing wrong with his pointing out that he was born and partly raised in Scranton. It is, after all, just the truth.

  15. From where I sit... says:

Kate…I, too, was raised in PA too. As an adult I have lived in W.Va., S.C., and MD.

I’ve lived in Delaware WELL OVER HALF MY LIFE…if I claimed I was a ‘Delawarean’ certain folks would scream ‘Foul’.

What is one to do? Damned if one does; damned if one doesn’t.

Biden belongs to all the people….you can not be an effective US Senator and operate in a vacuum.

This may, however, be a difficult concept for the vacuous………..

  16. Kate says:

I am proud to have a VP candidate from Delaware. It seems that he is not particularly proud to be from Delaware since he calls Scranton “home.”

  17. PBaumbach says:

    The crap-meter blew a fuse on Kate’s postings–‘deeply hurt’–give me a break.

Kate seems deeply hurt that Joe Biden doesn’t lie and disclaim that he was born and raised for 10 years in Scranton. This does not conflict in any way with his decades of time living in Delaware, raising his family here, and serving in the Senate, representing our state. To call this disingenuous is, quite simply, disingenuous.

I am proud that our VP candidate is truthful (100% TRUE). I’m deeply hurt that Kate is deeply hurt about that (100% crap–I don’t care what Kate’s reaction is about Biden telling the truth).

  18. Kate says:

And thanks for calling an emotional response vacuous.

  19. Kate says:

“deeply hurt that Joe Biden doesn’t lie and disclaim that he was born and raised for 10 years in Scranton”

“Born and raised in Scranton” is a vastly different statement than calling Scranton “home.”

  20. Kate says:

Home is where your heart is.

  21. mike says:

Kate, go back to last week and Biden’s shout-outs to Delaware in several venues. Don’t be hurt, be proud that your senator can also embrace folks from other states.
