What Rick Jensen WIll Be Yammering About Today

Filed in National by on October 1, 2008

First of all, DON’T listen to Rick Jensen.   If you happen to be walking by a radio this afternoon though and it is still on and playing because whoever was listening to AL forgot to turn it off, here is what you’ll hear today.

The media is “in the tank” for Obama.  The evidence is the Couric interviews with Palin and the fact that Gwen Ifill is moderating the VP debates.

The word has come down from Michelle Malkin to go after Ifill and Jensen is a brainless zombie, so expect much Gwen Ifill (psst…who is African American) bashing.  Gwen Ifill is moderator and managing editor of “Washington Week” and senior correspondent for “The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer”.

Ifill has always overcompensated by responding to these kinds of right-wing attacks by going easy on the Republicans and giving Democrats an unusually hard time.  When she moderated the Cheney/Edwards debate, she went out of her way to ask toss Cheney softballs but opened up a can of “when did you stop beating your wife” type questions on Edwards that any Fox News talking head would be proud of.  For example:

“As the vice president mentioned, John Kerry comes from the state of Massachusetts, which has taken as big a step as any state in the union to legalize gay marriage.  Yet both you and Senator Kerry say you oppose it.

Are you trying to have it both ways?”

…versus these questions for Cheney.

How will you capture or kill Bin Laden and other terrorist?

Is it really dangerous to our security to vote for Kerry?

Should we lift the Iranian sanctions as you wanted when you ran Halliburton?

What should we do about the poor in America?

Can you explain the difference in the Bush administrations position an on same sex unions in light our your previously stated positions and your family?

You said trial lawyers are and part of the reason for spiraling medical costs right, therefore are you saying John Edwards is part of the problem.

If you remember the last VP debates, you already know that the GOP”s wall to wall Ifill bashing between now and the debates will probably pay big dividends.

On the second point of evidence that the media is biased,  Rick thinks it is obvious that CBS and Couric are trying to take down McCain.  If they wern’t  why would they keep airing Couric’s interview with Palin?   And why do they air this those segments without airing the tape of Obama saying there are 57 states?

Case closed.

Your veiled attempt at a pre-emptive strike is ….well laughable. If the roles were reversed and you found out Gwen Ifil was set to launch a glowing book called “The Age of McCain” on Inauguration Day you would be BESIDE yourself with allegations that she could not possibly be impartial in the debate with a financial stake in the outcome of the election…and you would be correct.

But then again intellectual honesty is hardly your strong suit.

    “The Age of McCain”

    Bring it on!

  3. nemski says:

“What should we do with the poor in America?”

Box ’em up and ship them overseas.

    you would be BESIDE yourself…

Not if I lived in a trailer park.

  5. Unstable Isotope says:

If CBS is so biased against McCain/Palin why do they keep going back to her to be interviewed. Those questions she had trouble with are not difficult questions, and should be anticipated.
    – What do you think of the bailout
    – What did you mean about Alaska’s proximity to Russia?
    – What newspapers and magazines do you, Sarah Palin with the journalism degree, read?
    – Supreme court cases

These are not difficult questions. Palin should probably be prepared to answer them again. I guess the wingnut position is that Palin shouldn’t have to answer any questions at all, since she is one of the delicate Republican flowers.

What kind of Ifill bashing is going on? I hope Ifill gets peeved at it and becomes aggressive.

  6. jason330 says:

Ifill is big chums with Condi Rice.

If her past is any guide, this “kitchen sink” attack from the right wing will work and Ifill will be 100% in Palin’s corner during the debate.

As for CBS, the fact that they are airing those clips is evidence that they are in the bag for Obama, according to Jensen. I know,,,I know…it makes no sense, but we are talking about Jensen.

  7. Unstable Isotope says:

Ummm….do they realize that Condi Rice is a Republican?

  8. Geezer says:

Unlax, Jason. The Phillies game reduces Jensen’s show to one hour today.

  9. jason330 says:

    Phew!

  10. Chris says:

“If her past is any guide, this “kitchen sink” attack from the right wing will work and Ifill will be 100% in Palin’s corner during the debate.”

Then I guess the best solution is to replace her. Agreed Jason?

  11. jason330 says:

    In a heartbeat.

  12. Chris says:

Finally we agree on something. So lets get her out of there!

  13. RSmitty says:

Finally we [Chris and Jason] agree on something.

    Armageddon.

I know that Rick Jensen can be an annoying republican lemming most of the time, but I actually enjoyed his show when Brian Selander was with him. Since Brian left, Rick has been left to rant and ramble on about a republican vp choice who has the IQ of a goldfish. The RNC has only proven that Palin can memorize words but can’t put them into an intelligent sentence. I just can’t imagine Sarah Palin being welcomed as an asset in any Pentagon meeting or any meeting, for that matter. What the RNC has done is ruined her reputation to the point where she will probably never hold another office. Maybe that’s a good thing.

  15. P.I. says:

I already stopped listening to Jensen. DelawareTalkRadio is so much better. I have to say they don’t quite have the sound thing down yet….a bit of fade in and out, but content is way superior to WDEL. Rick has a laugh that send the same message to my brain as a fingernail across a chalk board.

The only way to get rid of the guy will be to boycot the show. I’m wondering if he might be Sarah Pailin’s debate coach. They are both as shallow as a puddle in a drought.

  16. G Rex says:

Ha, Gerry “glittering generalities” Fulcher drove me back to WDEL today. Firing his dumb ass was soooo justified!

  17. jason330 says:

I have to agree on Flucher. Jensen needs adult supervision though.
