Draft Biden’s Powerful Plea
His story is powerful. The ad is amazing. I am just not sure how many times you can repeat it (but maybe that is just the experienced Delawarean in me).

Okay. He has 9 days to decide or the filing deadlines for early states will pass. He can’t ride this maudlin stuff forever. I think it works for him now because he isn’t a candidate. Once he decides to run, everything will be viewed as calculated and even cynical.
I like Joe the VP, but that’s as far as I go.
I’m out.
I like Joe. I liked Joe as a Senator. I like him as a VP and elder statesman. I like him as a plan B, not a plan A. I have enormous sympathy for him and his family. But, like you, I am not sure it translates to a reason for a presidential campaign.
Once again, I quote Toby Zeigler….
I also like VP Joe and Senator Joe. Hell, I’d even go for Governor Joe. I don’t think he needs the Presidency but I would want him over Clinton. My ranking right now is Sanders, Biden, Mickey Mouse. If I have to walk into a voting booth next November and force myself to tick off the box next to Hillary’s name just so I know I did what I could to prevent Trump-son-ubio from getting in, I’m going to have to stop at a bar on the way home. And stay there for a while.
Carney vs Joe for Governor would be…interesting. Joe vs. Townsend and Short would be interesting. I think he’s got a lot left in him, I just don’t think POTUS is necessary.
Brian: You won’t have to personally vote for any major-party candidate. Your individual vote is of no consequence in this (presidentially) deep-blue state.
What is the evidence that Joe Biden would have the first clue about how to do the governor’s job? That’s fantasy-league politics thinking.
I know I’m pretty much safe in blue DE even if I go temporarily insane and vote straight R. It’s more for my own conscience and perhaps a bit of naiveté in hoping someone I truly feel would be best at the job would be a major party candidate.
Off the bat for Governor Joe? 40+ years in varying political and leadership roles ending up with VP for the last 8 years. A wealth of knowledge about Delaware rivaled by few an ability to identify personnel to fill mission critical roles in DE’s executive branch, and the ability to collaborate, especially with the General Assembly.
Who knows if Carney’s up for the job either. You don’t really know how someone does at a job until you put them in it. All the qualifications and evidence in the world don’t necessarily mean squat when it comes to practicality.
Carney or Biden — in terms of who they would appoint, or what they might do in office, probably very little difference … but we’d get far better quotes from Joe.
