The Republican Party is what we thought it was.

A racist, fascist organization. Wednesday afternoon, Bloomberg Politics released the first poll about Donald Trump’s horrific proposal for a “total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States.” The topline finding is pretty shocking: 65 percent of likely Republican primary voters agreed with Trump. The poll was strikingly partisan. Only a small minority among likely Democratic primary voters supported it, resulting in only 37 percent of Americans supporting Trump’s plan in total:

Where are the statements of condemnation from Delaware’s Republicans? Charles Copeland. Greg Lavelle. Colin Bonini. Mike Castle. All silent.

There is an old Latin proverb: Qui tacet consentire videtur, ubi loqui debuit ac potuit (He who is silent, when he ought to have spoken and was able to, is taken to agree)

To escape that, Delaware’s Republicans must all not only denounce Donald Trump, they must pledge publicly that they will refuse to support and vote for Donald Trump should he be the Presidential nominee of the Republican Party. Otherwise, we must assume that all of Delaware’s Republicans agree with Donald Trump.

Not holding my breath on any DE Republicans (with the exception of Ken Grant and Mike Stafford) condemning anything Trump has to say.

Actually the part that is really upsetting in these polls is not the GOP numbers. I expected them.

It’s the fact that nearly 1 in 5 Democrats and over a third of all likely voters agree with him, and that the “disagree” category among likely voters only scratches 50% just barely.

    Those are not good signs.

Bloomberg asked the question again in the same survey, after educating the responders on the Trump Plan, and opposition did increase a little bit.

Steve, I view the 18% of Democrats who support Trump’s plan and 22% of Republicans who oppose it as representative of the number of conservative Democrats and moderate/liberal Republicans there are. So those numbers don’t bother me. In fact, it pleases me that what two thirds of Republicans want equates to only a third of America wants. That confirms for me that the Liberalism is the majority in America.

“Online PulsePoll” ? is that sorta like the DL poll on the front page?

With due respect DD the opposition to Trump’s insanity should not be equated with liberalism. I could disagree over many, many social and political issues and not qualify as liberal. I tend to think of it as proving that a majority of Americans of whatever political stripe have not lost their souls. Nothing in the make-up of the House, Senate, or State Governments suggests that a majority of Americans (or even Democrats–see Delaware Democratic Party) are liberals.

I think that, like Libertarians, a lot of Americans are liberal on some issues but not others.

Is there a single issue where the liberal position isn’t in an obvious position of moral superiority
