Final Call for 2015 MVP Candidates!
The Annual MVP (Most Valuable to the Progressive Cause in Delaware) Awards will be announced next week. Most likely Tuesday, to be simultaneously released here at DL and live on the Al Mascitti Show.
I know it wasn’t the best year for progressives in Delaware, but many rose up to fight the good fight.
Nominate someone and cite what they did, and I will seriously consider them for the list. Many who previously received recognition were nominated by our readers. At least two winners came directly from our readers. The responses have been kinda slow this year, but you have until this Friday to post your candidates. C’mon folks, help me out here.
I would have loved to write down Bernie August had he decided to primary John Carney. Maybe next year.
Here are my nominees:
Claire Snyder Hall for her Common Cause work.
Sean Lynn for his death penalty repeal work.
Kim Williams for education.
Collectively, the Progressive Six that voted against the budget (Paul Baumbach, John Kowalko, Sean Matthews, Sean Lynn, Kim Williams, and Andria Bennett)
It is my personal opinion, given the coming importance of the coming budget fights in the GA, the Progressive Six should be recognized. They have already been honored for their no votes by both the Delaware ADA and the PDD.
I vote for the collective Progressive Six for their stand on the last day of the legislative session voting against the budget.
I like Claire Snyder-Hall for 2015 MVP.
David Lawson, R-Marydel & Sen. Greg Lavelle, R-Sharpley; for their efforts in getting the Bloom surcharge on our utility bills. Someone needs to keep an eye out for the people.
I would rather them be referred to as the Democratic Six rather than the Progressive Six, but they have my vote for collective award. Individual award to Kim Williams for her work on education reform.
I vote Mahad Johnson. He always stands up and points to the left. He never gets beat because he’s too busy pounding the opposition. I urge everyone to jump on Mahad Johnson and enjoy the ride. You won’t regret it.
I’ll nominate Rashmi Rangan of DCRAC for her lawsuit to make the mortgage settlement money be used for assistance to the people impacted by the financial crisis, rather than as a substitute for making real decisions in Dover. Where the Democratic 6 left off, she picked up.
