Sarah Palin says she’s disturbed that many of Pope Francis’ pastoral pronouncements have “sounded kind of liberal.” That is only because the new Pope is following Jesus’ example and teachings. Remember Mrs. Palin, Jesus did not hate.
Sarah Palin also says that the federal debt is like slavery. Interesting that she would put it like that, since debt is a prime component of capitalism and our free market economy. Businesses and people use credit and incur debt all the time all over our country to buy homes, to buy inventory for their businesses, to pay their employees, to make improvements to their house, to buy a car, etc. Is she saying that debt in those circumstances is slavery too? She has to be. And I guess that means Sarah Palin opposes capitalism. She is a dirty communist now. Probably happened when she saw Russia from her house.
Tuesday Open Thread [11.12.13]
We have Sarah Palin talking about her version of healthcare reform, and it sounds very familiar. We have poll results from the first post reelection Christie v. Clinton poll, and the result will be surprising to those living in fear of the bully. We have Senator Tom Harkin bringing the truth about religions and bigotry. And did you now that the U.S. is not actually in debt. Actually, no where close to being in debt. Come inside…
The “Race” for Chief Justice
Last week, the deadline for applications to be received by the Judicial Nominating Commission passed with only four applications being submitted. Who knew you actually had to “apply” for the job? Hell, if I knew that, I might have applied, despite being pretty ill-qualified for the post. According to Jeff Mordock at Delaware Law Weekly, the four candidates are Supreme Court Justice Carolyn Berger, Superior Court Judge Jan Jurden, Court of Chancery Chancellor Leo Strine Jr. and Superior Court President Judge James Vaughn Jr.
The next step in the process is that Commission will review the names and submit a list of three names out of those four to Governor Markell, who will make the final selection. The nominee would then have to be confirmed by the State Senate in January.
Who is the favorite?
Veterans Day Open Thread [11.11.13]
I would like to thank on this Veterans Day my grandfathers Jake and Daniel, my grandmother Kathryn (who served as an Army nurse in Louisiana during World War II), uncles Lew and Charles, as well as many friends, who have served our country in the Armed Forces. As a nation, we can never repay the debt we owe our veterans. The best we can do is work hard to be worthy of their sacrifice. And now, to do what many of them signed up to protect: freely debating politics and our government’s policies.
Come inside and find out how and why Jason is wrong about Chris Christie.

ABC News’ Sam Donaldson was acquitted of a DUI in Sussex County Superior Court due to a technicality. Good for you Sam, now, you are 79 years old. Stop drinking and driving.

Kavips or Kilroy, I can’t remember which, said recently that we were still obsessed with George W. Bush. I think it was said in jest, but still. I racked my brain to think of any posts that concentrated on the former disasterous President. I came up with nothing. If anything, we are preoccupied with the current Republican Party and its horrible members. So here is a GWB item, so we can live up to the Kavipsian or Kilroyian characterization. And its a doozy. It would seem that the former President has an interesting speaking engagement on his calendar:
Next week, former President George W. Bush is scheduled to keynote a fundraiser in Irving, Texas, for the Messianic Jewish Bible Institute, a group that trains people in the United States, Israel, and around the world to convince Jews to accept Jesus as the Messiah. The organization’s goal: to “restore” Israel and the Jews and bring about about the second coming of Christ.
So W is now a “Jew for Jesus?” And he is not just speaking….
