County Tries to Sell State White Elephant

Rockwood. Yet another tony estate, built in the mid-1800’s, championed by those people more concerned about family crests than family stability, purchased by New Castle County with lotsa bucks from the state, turned into a ‘mansion and a park’ during the go-go Gordon and Freebury years, and now, and now…the County can’t afford the upkeep and wants to pawn it off on the state.

Karen Weldin Stewart’s Appeal to Nowhere…

...on behalf of, well, not the people of the State of Delaware, has been dismissed by federal regulators. The News-Journal story has a distinct Karen in Wonderland flavor to it. To (half-)wit: Our elected insurance commissioner, apparently on her own, applied for a three-year waiver to:
"exempt Aetna and UnitedHealthcare from spending 80 percent of premiums on medical care rather than administrative expenses or profits."

Legislative Perks That I Have Known

I am struck with the genuine surprise that many WDEL listeners felt when reading the News-Journal's articles on Tigani and his (wait for it) ilk, and were especially surprised at the, let's say, easy relationships between lobbyists and legislators (and, yes, legislative staff) and governors (and, yes gubernatorial staff). So, in the interest of full disclosure, I'm going to lay out as many of the legislative perks that I can recall. This will not be an all-inclusive list, so I intend to add to it as my memories come back. I would invite any and all anonymous current or former legislative staffers to add to the list.
