Trump’s “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” 2020 strategy

Why wouldn't Trump want to continue to break the law by working with Russia, and bring North Korea into the fold? Accepting help from foreign governments is proven to work. He was rewarded with the Presidency and continues to be rewarded by a do-nothing congress.
In a new interview released this afternoon by ABC News, President Trump tells George Stephanopoulos that he’d take information from a foreign government if one offered dirt on his 2020 opponent. “I think you might want to listen, there isn’t anything wrong with listening.” President Trump rejected the idea that such foreign government interventions amounted to election interference. “It’s not an interference, they have information — I think I’d take it. If I thought there was something wrong, I’d go maybe to the FBI — if I thought there was something wrong. But when somebody comes up with oppo research, right, they come up with oppo research, ‘oh let’s call the FBI.’ The FBI doesn’t have enough agents to take care of it. When you go and talk, honestly, to congressman, they all do it, they always have, and that’s the way it is. It’s called oppo research.”

Joe Van Winkle

If I did a Joe Van Winkle post everytime JVW says something that was homey and cute 30 years ago, but sounds gross and icky today, I'd do nothing but…

American media STILL loves being clowned by Trump

Trump's proposed tariffs on Mexico were complete bullshit from the outset.  They were toothless nonsense that would have had a crippling effect on the U.S. economy. They were never serious, and yet when Trump called off the threat late last week, the news was breathlessly reported as a dramatic win for the White House:
"Trump: U.S., Mexico reach deal to avoid new tariffs" (NPR) "Trump drops his Mexico tariff threat after reaching immigration enforcement deal" (CNN) "Trump says U.S. and Mexico reach last-minute deal to avoid tariffs" (CBS) "The trade war ended before it began, forestalling that economic reckoning," The New York Times stressed in its initial coverage. - Via Daily Kos
Fucking dupes.

Biden’s Hide Hides Fresh Hyde Scars

There are a number of ways to look at Biden's Hyde Amendment change of heart. What you think about Biden will dictate whether you think it was a thoughtful reassessments, or a craven pander. Similarly, when you look at the Biden campaign you either see amateurish lurching, or professional responsiveness.

Former Vice President Joe Biden says he now wants to throw out the Hyde Amendment, dropping his long-held support for the measure that blocks federal funds from being used for most abortions amid criticism from his 2020 Democratic rivals.

"If I believe health care is a right, as I do, I can no longer support an amendment that makes that right dependent on someone's ZIP code," he said
