‘I helped Elon Musk Become A Trillionaire, And All I Got Was This Lousy Primary Challenge’.
To be fair, Krista Griffith also got a bleepload of contributions from Musk’s designated Delaware law firm. That’s something, I guess.
Y’know–the above caption holds true for a lot of incumbents who bowed down at the Delaware Way altar on behalf of Musk/Zuckerberg. Perhaps it’s just me, but I think they should all face a lit piece not dissimilar to what Krista Griffith has earned.
NIMBY Comes For Wilmington Tiny Homes Proposal:
“Wilmington’s proposal to build a village of tiny homes for the homeless is facing growing opposition from neighbors, just as city officials race to secure a site before a deadline passes that would cause the project to forfeit $1.6 million in federal funding.
The challenge was clear during a community meeting in Wilmington’s Eastside neighborhood on Tuesday when residents quickly rejected the proposal to build the village near them.
With Carney set to close the encampment on Monday, city officials are weighing their next steps to support the unhoused population. One option is to partner with the nonprofit, Springboard Delaware, to build and operate a tiny-home village. The group currently runs a similar community in Georgetown known as the “Pallet Village.”
But time is limited as the City Council has been directed to pick a location before July 1, to prevent Springboard from losing $1.6 million in COVID-era federal dollars that will no longer be available after this year.
The three locations suggested by the mayor’s office for the village are in the Eastside and Southbridge. Neighbors in both communities have expressed their disapproval of the plans.”
Perhaps it’s just me, but there comes a time when just saying ‘no’ is not enough. Time to be part of the solution.
Dog Bites Man: ‘Justice’ Department OK’s Media Mega-Merger. Or is that MAGA-merger?:
“The Justice Department’s Antitrust Division has signed off on Paramount Skydance’s $111 billion bid for Warner Bros. Discovery. The approval, first reported by POLITICO, clears a major regulatory hurdle for a deal that has become one of the most closely watched media merger reviews of the Trump era.
The decision, announced Friday, paves the way for Paramount to combine with the entertainment and media company behind a vast film and television studio, CNN, and the HBO Max streaming service, which would be combined with Paramount+ to create a new offering boasting about 200 million subscribers. The deal, which would upend the Hollywood ecosystem by combining two historic rival studios, is opposed by many in the entertainment industry who fear it could lead to mass layoffs, among other concerns.”
Uh, you mean ‘other concerns’ like the MAGA-fication of CNN?
‘Cleaning Up After The Elephant(s)’.
It’s Only ‘Residual Algae’. Honest:
“After weeks of promising to restore the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool to its former glory, President Donald Trump‘s “really beautiful” renovation quickly raised eyebrows for its unsavory appearance the day after it reopened.
The project, which took about six weeks and cost more than $14 million, was intended to fix structural issues that caused chronic leaking and resurface the bottom and sides of the pool to a shade Trump called “American flag blue.” It was yet another step in his plans to beautify Washington, D.C., ahead of the upcoming 250th anniversary celebrations.
After the work was completed and the pool refilled this week, many felt there was no significant change to the pool’s appearance. The “American flag blue” proved to be largely unnoticeable, almost like a “dark navy,” as described by The Washington Post.
One of the most visible changes came just after the pool was filled, when sanitation workers were quickly spotted on the site skimming newly surfaced green algae out of the water.
“What you are seeing is residual algae from the supply lines, which have been sitting dormant for eight weeks while construction has been taking place,” an Interior Department spokesperson told CNN journalist Kit Maher, who reported that there was “quite a bit of algae visible from the water’s edge” when she visited the Reflecting Pool to see Trump’s renovations.
One user on X who’s known to comment on politics spelled out the problem from his eyes: “Let’s be clear: this dude vacuuming the bottom is only part of the process. Without filtration and chemical treatment, the algae is here to stay.”
You will note that, likely out of necessity, we’re experimenting with a new format. As you know, I’m technologically illiterate. Thankfully, our longtime Tech Leader is not. Please practice patience while we see what eventuates with the new, possibly-improved DL format.
What do you want to talk about?
New format needs some work on the margins, literally. They are noticeably small on large monitors. Unless the body is supposed to be wall-to-wall.
That might be on me. The new editing tools are different than before.
And, as I’ve stated, I’m technologically illiterate.
There was less than zero consultation with either the community nor Council before these sites were esseintially forced on the East side and Southbridge. Carney’s plan was not done in ANY collaborative way before a 20 day artificial deadline was imposed. In addition there is NO plan for over 40 vulnerable neighbors in the Park prior to the Carney imposed deadline of Sunset Monday. Hey Johnny Boy, where will they go?
