"Weed News" figures Delaware is among the most likely to legalize marijuana in 2017. I don't see it, but my ear isn't exactly tuned to cannabis issues. I mean it seems obvious to me that the "war on drugs" and criminalization of pot use is racially and economically unjust in the extreme, but other that that (not partaking myself) I'm agnostic the question of legalization.

In his announcement Ford CEO Mark Fields was able to suck up to President Trump. That's fitting because Trump created the conditions in which this type of announcement is newsworthy. The Republicans know how to claim a victory. While this may feel like "the Iranian hostage crisis redux" to many Dems who remember how Jimmy Carter saved the hostages while Reagan received the credit, it shouldn't. While it true that Obama "saved" the auto industry in the US, the Democrats don't have a culture that can capitalize on this types of strategic wins. The Republicans...THEY have a culture and as we've seen time and again, culture beats the shit out of strategy.

Advice for Sussex Dems from Former 14th RD Chair Claire Snyder-Hall

When you take on a leadership role in an organization, you generally become attached to it, hoping for its continued success, even after you step down. That is how I feel about the Sussex County Democrats, having served as chair of the 14RD Committee for 4 years, and sitting on the County executive committee because of that role. Consequently, I’ve been asking myself these questions: Democrats had a registration advantage in Sussex County in 2014 (49,865 v. 49,615) and only a slight disadvantage in 2016 (57,522 v. 59,907), so why can’t Democrats get elected in Sussex? Why did every single Democrat lose in 2014 and 2016, except for the one Trump supporters love? Is the County just hopeless, best written off as a lost cause?

Anyone who thought GOP budget hawks were going to continue to be budget hawks during a GOP presidency needs his/her head examined. On a related note, this gives Coons and Carper some nice avenues for some juicy bipartisanship.

At the very least, President Obama should ask that Congress delay the Electoral College vote until, as Trump might say, we can figure out what the hell is going on. Barring that, he should ask Congress to delay the January 6 count of electoral votes. Barring that, Democrats should file objections to the vote that will force Congress to have to go on record in support of Trump.

In the week after the election, I didn't listen to or read any national punditry. I still don't. As a result, I was late to the Hillary supporters "Bernie Bros" smear which identifies Sanders supporters as crypto-racists who want to throw POC, women, and gays under the bus in order to appeal to white nationalists who live in the rust belt. Entering late, I've been on my heals and frankly confused about the whole zero sum game that was underway. My fist reaction was, "C'mon guys, everyone can be a little right and a little wrong." But that didn't work. Collegiality seemed to have completely broken down. Here is my forensic take on what happened.
