The Trumpification of the GOP

The Trumpification of the GOP

The GOP wants the angry, motivated, energetically racist Trump voters - but without Trump. They might get there if Cruz comes through as some at DL have predicted. In Cruz you have a slightly more polished politician with all the same tough guy swagger, and stridently anti-PC bravado. But where does that leave down-ticket Republicans? If the NRSC has anything to do with it, it leaves them transformed into an army of Junior Trumps, tweeting angry nonsense and rolling up the electoral spoils.
Yesterday, Robert Costa and Philip Rucker reported that the head of the National Republican Senatorial Committee wrote a seven page confidential memo that “urges candidates to adopt many of Trump’s tactics, issues and approaches — right down to adjusting the way they dress and how they use Twitter.” If you can’t beat him, join him.
Being a cop is tough. It is suppposed to be.

Being a cop is tough. It is suppposed to be.

When a police officer "fears for his life" he basically has a blank check to bypass District Attorneys, hearings, juries, judges and sentencing hearings and skip directly to the execution. That is why 70 people were killed by cops in Chicago last year and all but one were found to be justified. That test for deadly force is much too low. I understand that police work is hard and dangerous, but it is supposed to be. Police are supposed to be carefully screened and trained to be able to contend with the difficulties and danger of the job. Police work is only easy in a police state.
CHICAGO (AP) — The white officer who shot a black Chicago teen 16 times has been charged with murder and jailed. The graphic video of the slaying has been made public. And in the hours after the footage was released, protesters seemed to honor pleas for restraint.
Bonini to stay in race for Gov – I see the hand of Dave Burris in this

Bonini to stay in race for Gov – I see the hand of Dave Burris in this

It would be utterly humiliating for the DEGOP ticket to be topped by Lacey Lafferty. A complete disgrace. An utter travesty, and an intolerable burden for down ticket Republicans. But Copeland alone doesn't have the juice to get Bonini to unquit the race. So my sense it that Copeland, Simpler and Burris triple teamed Bonini who will be getting some pay off, like a piece of pizza, or a root-beer float, in exchange for being the candidate to lose to fellow GOPer, John Carney.
State Sen. Colin Bonini (R-Dover South) will forge ahead with his campaign for governor. The decision came after meeting with top donors and political allies Friday, which Bonini says rejuvenated his conviction to seek the Delaware’s highest office.
Rubio one-ups Trump’s fascism

Rubio one-ups Trump’s fascism

I presume Marco Rubio means to close down places like the Westboro Baptist Church, Redstate.com and the NRA with his plans to close down places where "radicals are begin inspired."
Fox News' Megyn Kelly Asked Rubio about Trump's statement that the U.S. may need to close mosques. "Well I think we need to target radicalism — a lot of it is actually happening online, not simply in mosques," Rubio said in response. "The vast majority of mosques in America are not…" "But the mosque piece of it is the controversial piece, so where do you stand on that?" Kelly jumped in to ask. ADVERTISING "Well, I think it’s not about closing down mosques. It’s about closing down any place, whether it’s a cafe, a diner, an internet site, any place where radicals are being inspired," the senator said.
Like John Carney, this Governor will protect you from mass shooters if they are Syrian

Like John Carney, this Governor will protect you from mass shooters if they are Syrian

When I took the oath of office, I swore to do everything I could to protect the citizens of this state from harm. There is nothing more important to me than ensuring that we are safe and can gather in our public places without fear of mass, indiscriminate violence. The nightmare scenario — the one that keeps me up at night — is the one where some individual could easily and legally obtain a firearm and use that firearm to kill innocent American citizens and also that the individual doing the killing is Syrian. That’s why, as long as I’m your governor, I vow to do everything in my power to prevent Syrians from shooting you while you are at the mall.

Congressman John Carney seeks to advance ISIS recruiting goals

What a f*cking profile in courage we have running for Governor.
Congressman John Carney, D-Delaware, believes the U.S. should suspend the intake of military-aged single men fleeing war-torn Syria, but keep allowing women, children and families into the country as federal officials review the vetting process that sees refugees placed across the nation. Combat-aged single men not attached to families make up about 2 percent of the almost 1,800 refugees admitted into the country, according to the U.S. State Department. But it is those 2 percent who Carney said on Wednesday he's most concerned with following a terrorist attack on Paris that killed at least 129 people on Friday.
I'm dating myself, but this is so Mike Castle. Trying to be on both sides of something and coming off looking like a bowl of chicken broth.
DL GOP Fantasy Pool Update – Jindal drops

DL GOP Fantasy Pool Update – Jindal drops

It is about freaking time someone dropped.
Republican presidential candidate and Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal suspended his bid for the presidency Tuesday night. "It's been a great honor for me to run for President of the United States. To put it in perspective, my parents came to this country 45 years ago. They came here for freedom and opportunity," Jindal said on Fox News. "I don't think in a million years they would have ever imagined that I would be governor or one day I would be running for President of the United States.
Infact Jindal's parents were right, because let's face it - Bobby was never really running for President, was he? Delaware GOP officials seek to support ISIS recruitment goals

Delaware GOP officials seek to support ISIS recruitment goals

The DEGOP is doing exactly what ISIS hoped:
Delaware GOP officials are asking Gov. Jack Markell to block any attempts by the federal government to place Syrian refugees in Delaware,
Pissing his pants as a result of the attacks in Paris, GOP chairman Charlie Copeland said that the United States needs to play into the hands of terrorists, by pushing ISIS resistors into the arms of the terrorists out of fear.
Copeland...asked Markell to, "demand that the Obama administration halt all efforts allow these individuals to cross American borders."
ISIS, meanwhile, is thrilled with Copeland's idiotic and short-sighted reaction to the attacks:
ISIS has ratcheted up its propaganda against anyone fleeing the conflict in Iraq and Syria of late — calling those who leave traitors and imploring others to stay and help to build their so-called caliphate. At the same time, it has vowed to make it impossible for Muslims to live peacefully in the West, threatening to destroy what it calls a “gray zone” of coexistence.
