Sneaky Pete Slips Starkey’s Insider Raise Q’s

The NJ names names and turns up the heat on Sneaky Pete.
Amid budget grief, big raises for Dover political aides Delaware lawmakers quietly awarded their top political aides in Legislative Hall thousands of dollars in raises earlier this year, even as they reduced or eliminated general pay increases for rank-and-file state employees, according to a review of payroll data by The News Journal.
House Speaker Pete Schwartzkopf, a Rehoboth Democrat who approved the raises, ducked questions from The News Journal, ignoring repeated requests for comment. "Pete is not available to comment about this," said Drew Volturo, a House Democratic spokesman.
Drew Volturo has been on the other side of this, so I'm not sure why he is going with this stonewalling approach. Maybe the Dem "leadership" has some broadside attack on teachers in he works that they plan to use to push this off the front page? It wouldn't surprise me.
Bernie…Hillary…? Whatever, it’s all good.

Bernie…Hillary…? Whatever, it’s all good.

I feel like a spectator this year. I just can't get excited about the Presidential election. Maybe it is because the GOP field is so utterly non-electable that the whole enterprise feels even more like kabuki theater than it normally does. Or... maybe it is because I like and I'm pretty comfortable with either Sanders or Clinton..? Who knows?

Another GOP “Truth Gaffe” ..this time, Planned Parenthood

This admission, by Chaffetz, is going to enrage conservatives who think that the point of government is to waste taxpayers money on partisan witch hunts.
Republican Congressman Jason Chaffetz has just admitted that the GOP’s investigation into Planned Parenthood’s misuse of federal funds turned out to be a dud. “Did I look at the finances and have a hearing specifically as to the revenue portion and how they spend? Yes. Was there any wrongdoing? I didn’t find any,”

This guy has the right idea

We have to start treating the American South, with their open carry and voter suppression like a pariah nation, similar to South Africa in the 1980's and 1990's. If they want "open carry" and voter suppression, fine. They just don't get that stuff and also get to be treated like grownups.
Daniel Hamermesh, an economics professor emeritus at the University of Texas at Austin, plans to withdraw from the university because of his concerns about the campus carry law that will go into effect in Texas in August 2016. According to a Tuesday report from the university's student newspaper, The Daily Texan, Hamermesh will teach at University of Sydney next fall.

McCarthy’s Benghazi Committee Truth Gaffe is an Indictment of the DC Press Corps

Josh Marshall makes an important point.
The only thing amazing about this is how it took a momentary remark by McCarthy to suddenly make what everyone knows into an acceptable point of public discussion: namely, that the Benghazi Committee was not only a transparently political exercise (that's hardly unprecedented) but just a complete crock by every definition. Without McCarthy's clumsy remark, DC's establishment press apparently didn't realize this was the case or didn't think it was an acceptable point of discussion. That's amazing.
Your "liberal media" everybody... Fair and balanced!
The father should be charged and tried as an adult

The father should be charged and tried as an adult

Early Saturday evening, an 11 year-old boy from Jefferson County, Tennessee, took his father’s unlocked shotgun and shot and killed, with premeditation, his 8 year-old neighbor, McKayla Dyer, from inside his house – because she wouldn’t show him her puppy. According to the local news station WKRN-TV (video below), the boy had a history of bullying the little girl. Her mother, Latasha Dyer said: “He was making fun of her, calling her names — just being mean to her…I had to go the principal about him, and he quit for a while, and then all of a sudden yesterday he shot her.” The boy, whose name is being withheld by authorities, has been charged with first degree murder, but a judge is to decide in the coming days whether or not to transfer the case to adult court.
We need to stop calling these incidents accidents.
Is it significant that Mat Marshall is Bryon Short’s Finance Director?

Is it significant that Mat Marshall is Bryon Short’s Finance Director?

For the record I have nothing against Marshall. In fact, I happen to like the guy, in spite of his resume. Back when I knew him, he was one of the sharpest and funniest guys involved in DE politics with the possible exception of Matt Denn. He probably still is. So there is that. Mat Marshall as a integral part of the Short campaign probably means that Townsend has a steep uphill climb. But the close connection to Carper is also significant. There is a saying - When You Dance With the Devil, the Devil Don't Change - the Devil Changes You. With Marshall's close links to Carper, it is hard to imagine that the Bryon Short campaign isn't going to be run as a Team Carper subsidiary.
