Colorado-based Frontier Airlines is resurrecting commercial airline service in Delaware. Frontier plans to begin Airbus 320 service from New Castle Airport on July 1, offering three flights a week to Chicago-Midway and Houston. Service to Orlando and Denver begins the following day with two weekly flights to Orlando and four flights a week to Denver, Frontier’s main hub.

I have a new thing. Whenever I see "Fish Taco" on a menu I order it. So far - after an infinitesimally small number of tests (3) - Dogfish on Rehoboth Ave is in the lead. The fish was great, and the cabbage salad had a nice tang to it. And yet, this fish taco is easily beatable by anyone who combines nice fresh fish, a decent tortilla and and some imaginative savory/sweet salad. Fins on Rehoboth Ave was pretty weak - but at least the fish was good. That same can't be said for Mango's in Bethany which was a train-wreck wrapped around a few Mrs. Paul's fish sticks. The fish taco appetizer at Iron Hill was equally weak but for more for lack of trying than crappy ingredients. I've frequently said, "We don't have a spending problem, we have a revenue problem." That is true as long as you are talking about domestic spending. Domestic programs from food safety inspections to college loan guarantees are cut to the bone. "Entitlements" such as Social security add nothing to the debt and could easily be self-sustaining well into the future with modest revenue side reforms. However, if you talking about the US budget in its entirety, the wingnuts are right. We do have a spending problem. We have a pretty big fucking spending problem.

I write this letter, my last letter, to you, Mr. Bush and Mr. Cheney. It sucks that AZ is leaving. And it is probably too tender right now for "lessons learned," but here it goes... You can look like a hero for a few years by throwing a bunch of money at a large corporation to get them to locate in Delaware, as Tom Carper did with AstraZeneca. Or you can be more like Portland and Seattle and do the harder work of trying to invest in building infrastructure for new ventures and make the public investments in of quality of life factors that entrepreneurs look for when building companies. Both methods cost money, but I think the Seattle model beats the shit out of the Tom Carper model.

The Food Network's "Restaurant Impossible" show is headed to Smyrna next week as the eatery rehab program will be filming at the Wagon Wheel Family Restaurant on U.S. 13 March 21 and 22. In two days and with only $10,000, chef Robert Irvine and his team of designers will revamp the local restaurant. At the end of the second day, the Wagon Wheel will hold a grand re-opening where they will open the doors to the public and film the service as part of the show.
