Open letter to the last remaining sane Delaware Republican

Hi, I know we've had our differences. I know I've berrated you for allowing Christine ODonnell to ever address an audience. I've scorned you for voting for George Bush (twice!). I've scoffed, and spit on the ground as you've walked by to show my utter contempt. But I'm past all of that now. I'm just full of pity for you and honestly reaching out right now to see what i can do to help you. I've been moving in this direction for a while because I can see you are a decent person. It know you have some whack-adoodle notions about taxation, but I think you want a better, more just, healthy, and sustainable democratic future for our state and country. I know that you have about as much in common with John Sigler and his whack job a-holes who have taken over your party as I do. This, from Daily Kos, really brought that home for me. "The meetings didn’t take. “[Newt] Gingrich and [Mitt] Romney understood, … and I think they even believed the evidence and understood the risk,” [MIT scientist Kerry] Emanuel says. “But they were so terrified by the extremists in their party that in the primaries they felt compelled to deny it. Which is not good leadership, good integrity. I got a low impression of them as leaders.” Throughout the Republican presidential primaries, every candidate but one—former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman, who was knocked out of the race at the start—questioned, denied, or outright mocked the science of climate change. Soon after his experience in South Carolina, Emanuel changed his lifelong Republican Party registration to independent. “The idea that you could look a huge amount of evidence straight in the face and, for purely ideological reasons, deny it, is anathema to me,” he says." While I used to say "tough titties" that's the party you created out of your cynical belief that you could control the idiots and Christianist maniacs, I now realize that "I told you so" isn't going to cut it moving forward. We can't have a two party system in which one party of openly committed to simply fucking shit up out of spite. So, I'm honestly asking - what can I do? How can i help the GOP return to some semblance of sanity and decent? You know how to reach me. Let's chat. I wouldn't be much of a liberal if I didn't think we could work things out. Sincerly, jason330 PS. What the fuck were you thinking voting for George Bush for a second term? Honestly. okay- just had to say that one more time. Now I'm don't with finger pointing. I promise. onward.

Darrell Issa yet to link Benghazi and mystery spike in sea lion deaths

Not that he isn't working on it.
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Starving sea lion pups are washing up on Southern California beaches at a rate more than five times higher than usual, and scientists are scrambling to figure out why. Since the beginning of the year, 1,293 emaciated sea lions found stranded on beaches from San Diego to Santa Barbara have been treated at seven facilities in the state, Sarah Wilkin of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration said Wednesday during a conference call with reporters.

I’m not tracking on this…but is Chip Flowers pulling a Jeff Christopher?

When reading Celia's blog you never know who is telling her to write what, so I'm not putting too much stock into her account but it sure sounds like Flowers is the catalyst for the turmoil.
"You have a treasurer who is a constitutional officer," Flowers said. "That's the argument of the Sussex County sheriff. We're all constitutional officers," said Jeff Bullock, the Democratic secretary of state.
I don't know if Flowers is in the wrong, but I love that "Christopherism" has now been used to identify someone as a crackpot.

Behold the beauty of our “Club for Growth” style paradise

Oh the oppression of regulations industries are forced to endure in their determination to make a buck. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration most recently inspected the Texas fertilizer plant that exploded Wednesday night in 1985.Thanks to a prolonged and sustain policy of not providing the funding necessary to hire inspectors or do inspections the United States is now officially Bhopalesque.'
Nineteen, nineteen, nineteen - eight five !!! Prediction : This year more people will be killed in America by uninspected, tainted food than by terrorists.

What Delaware’s Libertarian said

Steve Newton nails it.

The News Journal's editorial page: distorting the facts for political gain

If one's only source of information regarding the disagreement between the Christina School District and the Delaware Department of Education were the News Journal editorial page, one might be excused for drawing the conclusion that Christina school board's vote a rejection of reality
but in fact...
Portraying the CSD School Board as not wanting great teachers, as reneging on prior agreements, as being untrustworthy partners with the State, and as being lone wolf crazies flying in the fact of all Delaware education reform is--to put it bluntly--editorial prostitution that defies the facts of the whole case.

Delaware Lawmaker not convinced we really went to the moon

John Atkins shared a link. 2 hours ago Im not a big conspiracy guy, but after doing some research, reading, and critical thinking on my own, Im not sure we ever went. Whats your thoughts?
And from the resulting comment thread...
Rick, once its launched it simply could have orbitted around the earth out of view of the naked eye? Ever watch "astronauts gone wild"? A guy simply asks every man that walked on the moon to place his hand on the bible to confirm it. Not one would do it......why not? 2 hours ago
I've never heard of "astronauts gone wild" - but I'm 100% sure it is complete nonsense that only a person with diminished mental capacity could give any credence to.

Where is the war on teachers taking us?

As the zero-tax absolutist, and anti-referendum zealots (who are willing to outright lie about property tax Armageddon) continue to control the levers of government, it is worth considering what outcome we hope to achieve by underfunding and running public education into the ground in America. What lurks around the corner for a country that has declared the classroom teacher a menace to society? Here is a glimpse of that future. This is from Huffington Post, but it could be from wherever a teacher is talking about their life choices.

Who did not see this coming?

Remember those warnings about how instead of welcoming President Obama’s adoption of Chained CPI, Republicans would continue to deny him a budget deal and attack him for proposing to cut Social Security? Well Rep. Greg Walden (R-OR) — who also happens to be chairman of the House GOP’s re-election committee — just showed how it’s done, saying Obama’s budget “lays out a shocking attack on seniors.”

Gun nuts rejoice over news of stabbing spree because they think it proves their point, or something

Comment author - NoLiberty! This campus needs to put signs up "Knife Free Zone" to prevent this from happening again! or maybe... "Assault/Murder Free Zone"? If we are not crystal clear with our laws and signage, people will still accidentally kill others thinking its OK to do so.
So far "14 hurt" have been reported. No deaths, so far. Maybe some of these unfortunate victims will die, but right now a "Knife Free Zone" might be premature.
