Way to keep it classy Republicans

According to a report published by Mother Jones' David Corn, the GOP affiliated group, FreedomWorks, recorded a promotional video that featured a fake panda performing oral sex on a woman impersonating former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
Two female interns were chosen to participate in the video, according to the report, one wearing the panda suit and the other dressed as Clinton. The video was created ahead of the group's FreePAC conference, which was held in late July 2012, and it was intended to be shown at the event.
Family values...?

I John Sigler, being a clown and having no irony sensors….

The least serious person in Delaware politics, a guy who couldn't sign up one single decent statewide candidate, projects his unseriousness on the President.
"It's that time of the year again -- when President Obama pretends he's concerned about the weak economy and the soaring national debt. But the citizens of Delaware have heard enough State of the Union addresses from President Obama to know the truth: he's not serious. He's not serious about creating jobs. He's not serious about deficit reduction. He's not serious about spending reform.
The doofus tumbles ass backwards into a truth here. He, John Sigler, is sick of hearing the President. He has heard enough. But he is antsy because he knows that he is going to hear a lot more. Mainly because his party is full of nut bags who think sobbing is a legitimate argument, and stamping their feet is evidence. He hasn't quite made the connection between the GOP's lack of seriousness and their electoral misfortunes, but you can tell he is groping his way toward the truth.

Customers With More Money = Good For Business

The Chamber of Commerce, and most elected officials from either party don't get it. Raising the minimum wage makes good economic sense, and it makes good political sense. No matter. "OMGZ! Think of the billionaires!! Won't anyone think of the billionaires!!?!?!" You can almost see the wheels turning in John Boehner's head.

The Olympics are bullshit – this seals it

Because the United States needs another gold medal in wake boarding - the IOC has cut wrestling. You wouldn't know it from our crappy TV coverage of wall-to-wall beach volleyball, but in London 29 countries won medals in wrestling. It is a popular, truly international, sport. But they needed space to add indoor rock climbing to the lineup.

The crazy, fractured & rudderless DE GOP has a meeting

John Sigler's useless clownishness is on full display in this Doug Dennison blurb about the Lunatic Party's Lincoln Day Dinner. They had Sigler himself unveiling this year's vapid bumper sticker.... drum roll please... “Renew, grow and win!" You can just imagine the assembled faithful leaping to their feet to lustily ratify that stirring bit of PR hackery by acclamation, can't you? No...? Don't worry, it gets worse. Much worse.

Dictatorship of the Beige Cyborgs

Consider, for a second, the possibility that our sober, "bi-partisan" politicians and various media boosters of "centrist" politics aren't interested in finding solutions to our problems. Imagine that the people seeking "the middle" are motivated to do just enough to keep getting re-elected and keep the money spigot open - with no thought for the long and short term outcomes. If you've entertained these dark thoughts, here is a longer think piece for your Saturday morning ruminations. The premise is that democracy is broken. There's "a hidden failure mode, we've landed in it, and we probably won't be able to vote ourselves out of it."

Republican economic nonsense uber alles

I'm so glad that our upright centrist Democrats hopped on the GOP's economic bullshit train.
The federal deficit will drop to less than $1 trillion for the first time in five years, but massive spending cuts that have improved the budget outlook are also slowing the economy, according to a report released Tuesday by the Congressional Budget office.

The Fat Blustery Guy Blusters

I get why New Jersians like the fat blustery guy routine. In an age of stiff, over-programmed, cyborgs like John Carney and Tom Carper moving stiffly and guardedly across the public stage, the fat blustery guy is a breath of fresh air. Like a bowl of chocolate chip mint ice-cream after nothing but white bread toast and saltines. Nevertheless, you can't bluster away facts. The fat man is more likely to have a stroke. The fat man is more likely to drop dead of a heart attack. The fat man is driving up your health insurance rates with his undisciplined, devil-may-care approach to the buffet table. Just as we know that "cutting taxes on business" has never helped the economy - the fat bluster guy should never be mistaken for a healthy person. Facts are facts.

When non-gun people shoot, they shoot skeet

I'm not saying Carper doesn't still shoot and still enjoy chowing down on "possum, rabbit, squirrel and wild boar." I'm simply observing that when non-gun people want to shoot something, they are typically going to shoot skeet. How do I know this? I'm a non gun person and when shooting come up as a topic, I think to myself, "I'd like to try skeet shooting, I guess."
WASHINGTON — Sen. Tom Carper owns a 16-gauge shotgun. Rep. John Carney owns a Remington 11-87 shotgun. The Delaware lawmakers, both Democrats, are gun owners who support banning military-style assault weapons and high-capacity ammunition magazines. The pair also favor background checks for all gun purchases.

Dispatches from the looming GOP Civil War – The Underpants Gnomes of FREEDOM!

In searching for overheated rants about Karl Rove, I came across this bit of revisionist history from Red State's Eric Ericson:
In Delaware, many conservative, myself included, made the conscious decision that it would be far better to have the Democrat win than Mike Castle because of what Castle would do whispering in the ears of Republican leaders. Few of us thought she could win. But Sarah Palin and Jim DeMint get particular blame for their endorsements, which totally ignores that those endorsements came when it was clear O’Donnell was on a glide path to victory in the primary as Delaware Republicans were rejecting Mike Castle without much outside help from conservatives.
