Sher clarifies (?) her abortion stance

When I needed an abortion I was for it. Now that I don't need one, I'm against it. This is a verbatim grab from Delaware politics. I don't know who is making this statement, Anderson or Valenzuela, but I think it switches from Anderson speaking to Valenzuela after the first sentence.

The GOP’s biggest loser

Romney stunk up the joint, and limped out of the convention looking more shell shocked than John Voight in the last scene of Deliverance. Clint Eastwood obviously blew a lifetime of brand equity with his stupid bullshit, but for my money the GOP's biggest loser is New Jersey Governor Chris Christie. ...

Don’t call them “undecideds.” Call them “don’t cares”

I'd like to see all pollsters change their wording. It would be much more honest to call "undecideds" something like, "don't cares" or even "the clueless". Then, when Democrats stop fretting over a bunch of dumb fuck "centrists" the country will be better off. Duncan Black, as usual, gets it:
I didn't quite catch who it was, but it was refreshing to hear someone NPR point out that "undecided voters" don't know or care much about politics. I feel like our entire campaign coverage is directed at mythical people who spend months with furrowed brows studying every little bit of trivia about the campaigns before finally making their decisions. Most of them are stupid about politics and are barely interested.

Obama’s addition to the Democratic hymnal

Since before his inauguration I, like many Democrats, had been waiting for President Obama to make his mark on our Democratic psyche. John F Kennedy and Franklin Roosevelt before him used their eloquence to help us understand who we are as a party and a people. They left us with words and phrases that became part of our Democratic identity and our national identity. After eight years of the aspirational desert of George Bush, that responsibility fell squarely and heavily on the shoulders of Barack Obama. Perhaps feeling untested, and that the words might seem insincere, he passed on the opportunity during his inaugural address. But last night I heard the words that will endure. I heard the words that form a bulwark against the greedy and grasping brutality that Republicans envision for our future.

Anticipating Biden’s Speech

I know most people will be tuning in tonight to hear the big dog, Bill Clinton. I get that. Clinton is great at this and he is going to rip the roof off the building. Clinton is the summer blockbuster that is over-hyped, but STILL delivers the goods. But Biden's Thursday night speech is the speech I'm looking forward to.

I’m calling it for Obama: Where the Republicans went wrong & where the Dems can (still) go wrong

I've been thinking about how the Democrats have to worry about over confidence this election cycle while Republicans have to worry about everything else. How is it that this election can seem so one sided to me? I meditated up at the DL survival-plex & gas fracking a go-go on that question, and it came to me. The GOP messed up when they FAILED to nominate Rick Perry.

Rude Pundit’s Lesson on Republican Economics

Chris Christie brought shame to his alma matter once again by sweating all over the stage the the GOP clustf*ck, and repeating the thoroughly discredited lies of Republican economics. I didn't watch the speech, but it promoted the Rude Pundit to write up this summary of Christie's economic theories and so Christie accidentally did some good.
