Chris Coons Viewed as Weak Link as Biden Tries to Keep Senate Dems Unified on Tommy Tuberville

President Biden announced more military nominees as Sen. Tuberville digs in on blocking them.   And yet, while the president called the Alabama Republican’s hold on promotions and nominations “dangerous,” and asked the Senate to quickly confirm the nominees, it is a Democrat that wants to cave to Tuberville’s hostage taking – Chris Coons.

According to Andrew Desidario of Punchbowl News speaking on MSNBC this morning, Coons is eager to “compromise” with  Tuberville, and meet some of his demands regarding abortion in order to move nominations forward.

So far, however, most Democratic Senators see how acquiescing to any part of Tubervilles’s demands would set a dangerous precedent and create a roadmap for Republican senators who each have their own outrageous demands.

A home invasion is the ultimate wet dream of your average MAGA gun nut. Just listen to how that traumatic experience turned Claudia Trupp into a defense attorney, and campaigner for the innocence project.

E252 – Innocence Project (w/Claudia Trupp)

Innocence Project Delaware Executive Director Claudia Trupp joins Rob in the bunker to talk about how she became involved in criminal defense work, how an Innocence Project was brought to Delaware, and what work they are doing now to help the wrongfully convicted.

FL Dept of Education “Our Anti-historical nonsense factual if you want it to be”

After getting a load of shit for saying slaves benefited from slavery, the FL Dept of Education threw out of bunch of names to prove slaves benefited from slavery.  You know what happened next.

This is a little old (from last week), but I just love how Taylor-Green sounds like she just discovered the fact that there was a President named Lyndon Johnson and that he wanted to help poor people.

I saw the Barbie movie….and I loved it!

If you know and like movies by Greta Gerwig (Lady Bird, Little Women), you know what you are getting into.  You’ll see women pulled in every direction all at once. You’ll see the unremitting gaslighting that the patriarchy puts women through on a daily basis. You’ll see douche bros being douche bros.

But you’ll also see one of the most ambitious movies I’ve seen in years as it tries and succeeds to be many things to many audiences all at once.

Is it woke?   If woke means you think women should be treated as whole human beings, yeah, I guess it is pretty woke.

If DeSantis peddles is Pelaton bike of bile really hard, he is sure to catch Trump

Ron DeSantis Threatens Bud Light’s Parent Company With Legal Action

DeSantis’ appearance on Jesse Watters Primetime coincided with a letter written by the 2024 presidential candidate, obtained by CNN, that suggests AB InBev “breached legal duties owed to its shareholders” by becoming involved with “radical social ideologies.” Bud Light used transgender social media influencer Dylan Mulvaney to help market its product, after which sales dropped thanks in part to musician Kid Rock and others leading calls for a boycott.

What the actual fuck?

Probably not great news that Donald Trump is putting horrifying supervillain stuff like this on his TruthSocial account now.

To figure out if Jason Aldean’s song is pro-lynching pay attention to what the Klan and MAGAs say about it. They’ll let you know.

Jason Aldean
@Jason_Aldean
In the past 24 hours I have been accused of releasing a pro-lynching song (a song that has been out since May) and was subject to the comparison that I (direct quote) was not too pleased with the nationwide BLM protests. These references are not only meritless, but dangerous. There is not a single lyric in the song that references race or points to it- and there isn’t a single video clip that isn’t real news footage -and while I can try and respect others to have their own interpretation of a song with music- this one goes too far.

As so many pointed out, I was present at Route 91-where so many lost their lives- and our community recently suffered another heartbreaking tragedy. NO ONE, including me, wants to continue to see senseless headlines or families ripped apart.

Top 3 Reasons Eugene Young SHOULD NOT Run for Congress This Year

For people who like Eugene Young and want to see him have a political future.

  1. The campaign was caught flat footed, which is a very bad sign
  2. The New Castle County County Job is wide open.  Take that then primary Coons.
  3. Being a two time loser is a terrible look

Gun rights group slams Delaware State Fair ban on firearms: ‘blatant insult’

“The Delaware State Fair is now officially anti-gun,” an email blast recently sent to members of the Delaware State Sportsmen’s Association (DSSA) proclaims. The notice sounds off against a policy that prohibits patrons, vendors, exhibitors, volunteers and employees from carrying firearms at the fair from July 20-29, 2023.

The Delaware State Fair website states that “weapons of any kind or objects that appear to be weapons are prohibited and may not be brought onto the fairgrounds.”

Remember back in 2016 when Democrats scared everyone into voting for Hillary Clinton because otherwise the Supreme Court would overturn Roe v Wade?   Yeah, Dems can’t feel fear in the same way Republicans can’t feel shame.

Senator Murphy: GOP will ‘100 percent’ pass national abortion ban with control of Congress

Democratic Sen. Chris Murphy (Conn.) on Monday warned about “the stakes” of the 2024 election, arguing Republicans will push to approve a national abortion ban if they win Congress next year.

“If you didn’t know already, if Republicans win control of the House and Senate in 2024, they are going to pass a national abortion ban,” Murphy tweeted. “It’s 100% certain. Just so we’re clear about the stakes.”

This open thread will be filled out by you in the comments, or possibly me around 11:00 this morning,

Dem Party primaries are good, except the ones I don’t like. They are bad.

I don’t think people should get out of the way for other people.  Since the Democratic Party is the only remaining statewide party in Delaware, the primary IS the election.  So have it out.  Tell us the “democratic approach” to holding the office you want.   Get your people fired up.

Just don’t get into tearing down other candidates.  Those are the ones I don’t like.

Why aren’t Delaware Democrats doing anything?  I know, Pete liked to pretend that the withered rump of the DEGOP held some power, but that was (and is) bullshit,  We’re all adults here, right.  We can handle the truth.

I need to call this out…. Delaware Democrats have a supermajority in both houses…and a Delaware Democrat at all levels of State government.

We have had a democrat as Governor since 1993.
We have a democrat Lt. Governor since 1993
We have a democrat Senate Majority since 1973
We have a democrat President Pro tempore since 1973
We have a democrat House Majority since 2009
We have a democrat Speaker since 2009.

Related: In Minnesota, the Democrats are getting shit done.

You don’t just need a trifecta to do what Minnesota Democrats did in their legislature this year. You need to get that trifecta understanding what the stakes are and having an ideologically consistent party fighting Republicans. We have the trifecta all the time in Rhode Island, but that doesn’t mean we are doing good stuff like this. But really, what Minnesota Democrats did this year is quite impressive.

“This was a bonanza year without precedent,” said Larry Jacobs, a political science professor at the University of Minnesota, highlighting the fact that the recently passed two-year budget is 40 percent larger than the current one. “Minnesota is an example of a full-on progressive gallop towards greater government activism and a willingness to spend just unimaginable amounts of money.”

Ron DeSantis Deathwatch Clock – 10 minutes to midnight

My August 15th prediction seems rock solid.

If you’ll remember the last time we discussed Incel Chieftain Ron DeSantis the story was that even though his polling numbers had faltered and campaign discourse had settled into describing his deep personal weirdness he was still sitting on a mountain of money. Well, maybe not. Now DeSantis has been forced to fire staff amid a spending crunch. A campaign insider tells Politico the number was “fewer than 10 staffers.” NBC says it was a dozen. The first reports tried to suggest this was part of a strategy shift as opposed to spending woes. But in those terms the new strategy seems to be to not run out of money before the end of the summer.

Related:  AAA is now the Bud Light of Insurance companies.

AAA will not renew the auto and home insurance policies for some customers in Florida, joining a growing list of insurers dialing back their presence in the Sunshine State amid a growing risk of natural disasters.

“Unfortunately, Florida’s insurance market has become challenging in recent years,” the company said in a statement emailed to CBS MoneyWatch. “Last year’s catastrophic hurricane season contributed to an unprecedented rise in reinsurance rates, making it more costly for insurance companies to operate.”

AAA declined to say how many customers won’t have their policies renewed, saying only that the change will affect “a small percentage” of policy holders.

“So, knock on wood, we won’t have a big storm this summer. Then I think you’re going to start to see companies see an advantage,” DeSantis added.
