Pretend tough guy, Kevin McCarthy, slinked away like a…I don’t know.  I guess you could say,  like a pussy

“You. Are. A. Pussy”

“McCarthy said, ‘If you ever say something like that to me again, I’m gonna kick the shit out of you,’” a member claimed to The Daily Beast.

Another member who witnessed the exchange provided even more context: “They were in each other’s faces. Basically nose-to-nose. And Swalwell said something like, ‘Are we really gonna do this?’”

After some back-and-forth, with chests puffed out, McCarthy issued a challenge to Swalwell: “Call me a pussy again, and I’ll kick your ass,” the Speaker allegedly said.

While both members told nearly identical versions of this story, they both delivered Swalwell’s response in exactly the same way.

“You. Are. A. Pussy,” Swalwell told McCarthy.

After both men stared each other down for another moment, McCarthy eventually relented. He stepped to the side and let Swalwell through to the bathroom—without kicking his ass—and carried on with his duty hosting the leader of a major U.S. ally in the House chamber.

Project 2025: Burn the Planet to Own the Libs

Conservative groups have crafted a plan for demolishing the federal government’s efforts to counter climate change — and it wouldn’t stop with President Joe Biden’s policies.

The 920-page blueprint, whose hundreds of authors include former Trump administration officials, would go far beyond past GOP efforts to slash environmental agencies’ budgets or oust “deep state” employees.

Called Project 2025, it would block the expansion of the electrical grid for wind and solar energy; slash funding for the Environmental Protection Agency’s environmental justice office; shutter the Energy Department’s renewable energy offices; prevent states from adopting California’s car pollution standards; and delegate more regulation of polluting industries to Republican state officials.

It is only partially true to say Trump is running for President to stay out of jail. He is also running to pay his legal fees

Former President Donald Trump’s political action committee, Save America, has spent more than $40 million on legal fees since the start of this year, a source familiar with the matter told CNN.

The PAC, which raises most of its funds through small-dollar donations from Trump’s supporters, is expected to report to the Federal Election Commission on Monday that it spent $40.2 million on legal costs in the first half of the year – more than double the amount the group spent on legal fees in all of 2022.

Save America spent over $16 million on legal costs in 2022, according to Federal Election Commission records. The political action committee must file its disclosure report covering the first six months of this year by the end of the day Monday.

Trump says Ukraine aid should be paused & deposited in his campaign account for safekeeping until the Lappy! ™ matter is resolved

All  LAPPY!(tm) all the time between now and the election. And why not? The media allowed them to chant “Benghazi!” 24/7/365 and it worked.

Former President Trump called for a pause on all aid to Ukraine until several federal agencies provide “every scrap” of evidence they have on alleged “corrupt business dealings” from President Biden and his son, Hunter Biden.

Trump said at a rally in Erie, Pa., on Saturday that Biden has been “dragging” the country into conflict with the war between Russia and Ukraine and referenced the copy of the unverified tip that congressional Republicans released last week purporting to show evidence of a scheme to bribe Biden.

The form included secondhand allegations that the Bidens were sent millions of dollars from the CEO of Ukrainian energy company Burisma, which was being investigated by the Ukrainian prosecutor general’s office. Hunter Biden served on the board of Burisma at the time.

Biden, while serving as vice president in the Obama administration, argued that Ukrainian Prosecutor General Viktor Shokin was corrupt and should be fired, threatening to withhold $1 billion in funding for Ukraine unless he was dismissed.

Lurking Legislators, Please Read This

Connecticut Has Done Something Remarkable With Crime – The state cut incarceration in half, while crime plummeted.

In 1999 Connecticut had so many people in prison that it paid to send 500 of them to be incarcerated in Virginia. Nearly 25 years later, the state has not only sliced its number of imprisoned people in half, but been able to close more than 10 prisons while keeping its crime rate at its lowest level in more than 40 years.

“It is kind of remarkable,” said Mike Lawlor, a former state legislator and state official who has worked on these issues for 30-plus years. “We could probably close a few more.”

Connecticut currently runs 13 prisons, which house about 10,000 people. Two-thirds of these are serving sentences; the other third are those who have yet to be sentenced. (Five of the closed prisons have been mothballed, meaning they could be reopened if needed.) The state’s rate of 155 people imprisoned per 100,000 residents is now the ninth lowest in the country and well below the national average of 350 people per 100,000.

Wait…Avelo doesn’t suck?

The Press Breathlessly Reports the Most Recent Trump Indictment

Trump directly directed an employee to destroy evidence of his crimes, which is a crime.  GASP!!!   Shocking!!

By my count this is the 48th time the press has reported THE BIG ONE, that will change everything.

The New Evidence Against Donald Trump In The MAL Case Is BRUTAL

Surprise!

With reporters clustered at the DC federal courthouse awaiting a possible Trump indictment in the Jan. 6 case, Special Counsel Jack Smith’s team dropped a new bombshell in Florida in the Mar-a-Lago case: a superseding indictment that adds new charges against Trump himself, co-defendant Walt Nauta, and a new third defendant.

Let’s run through the top points quickly:

    • The number of counts in the indictment swelled from 38 to 42.
    • Trump was hit with an additional charge of willful retention of national defense information (now 32 counts on that charge, up from 31) for the Iran war plan document he allegedly flaunted at Bedminster.
    • The new defendant, a MAL worker named Carlos De Oliveira was added to the existing conspiracy to obstruct justice count, so now all three defendants are charged in this count. In addition, De Oliveira gets his own false statements count.
  • All three men were charged under a new count of altering, destroying, mutilating or concealing an object.
  • All three men were charged under a new count of corruptly altering, destroying, mutilating or concealing an object.

The additional charges mostly have to do with a brazen alleged attempt to delete security camera footage at MAL after it was subpoenaed by a DC federal grand jury – and wow! The feds have the goods on Trump.

‘The Boss’ Was Directly Involved … Allegedly

The new evidence presented by prosecutors in the superseding Mar-a-Lago indictment is incredibly damaging for Trump – referred to at times by his employees simply as “the boss,” according to the indictment.

It alleges that Trump was directly in contact with Nauta and De Oliveira about deleting security footage at Mar-a-Lago that had been subpoenaed in the summer of 2022 by a federal grand jury in DC.

Fox News – What heat wave? It is just a deep state temp measuring trick

All these paid liars should be rounded up and eventually hung for their crimes. The people that paid them to lie, as well.

It’s not climate change that’s causing heat waves this summer but no one wants to explain why

In the 1930s, the government’s Heat Wave Index was four times higher

Every summer, heat waves inevitably hit the United States and other parts of the world, causing climate alarmists and left-leaning media outlets to demand dramatic, disastrous changes to the global energy system. Unfortunately, this summer is no different.

One more thing about McBride and Young

I took a second to step back and collect my thoughts about the Young/McBride primary and fwiw, here you go:

I have previously mentioned that there are Democratic primaries I like and ones I don’t like. When a Madinah takes out an John Viola in a democratic primary, for example. That’s a good primary.  When a Jess Scarane takes on the task of throwing a spotlight on the wretchedness of Chris Coons, that it a good primary.  In those matchups there are two very different political viewpoints getting airtime and battling it out.

In the case of McBride versus Young I think the candidates are too close in terms of political philosphy.  There are both outsiders of a sort and appear eager to bring a defense of the marginalized, and a fresh voice of reform to our gerontocractic congress.   Of course, their partisans will take exception to that characterization.  And that is exactly the problem.

Since the political viewpoints of the candidates are close, it’s gonna come down to personalities.  While the candidates may be able to stay above the fray,  there’s no way that the surrogates will avoid trying to tear down the opposition.  They basically have to.  And therefor, this will be a damaging primary for the Democratic Party.

If it was held today, and I wish it was, I’d probably vote for Sarah McBride.  I feel like I know her better and although I’ve seen that she is cut from some of the the old “Delaware Way” cloth, I think she’d bring a vitality and energy to congress that it sorely lacking.  She’d also be the 3rd or 4th highest ranking Democrat in the state and would similarly bring vitality and energy to that sad sack organization.  Maybe I’m wrong about her being able to do something new with the old “Delaware Way” cloth, but as in any election, you make a choice and hope for the best.

That said, it is early and I am persuadable.

Say what you want about Trump, but you have to give him credit for bankrupting the Arizona, Colorado, Michigan, and Minnesota state Republican Parties.

Former President Donald Trump and even some of his key GOP rivals may be raking in money — but at the state level, it’s a different story. State Republican Parties in important parts of the country are going broke as they are taken over by extremists who don’t know how to organize or win elections, Jim Geraghty wrote for the conservative National Review on Tuesday.

“Even worse for the GOP, these aren’t just any states — Arizona, Colorado, Michigan, and Minnesota all rank as either key swing states or once-purple states that would be tantalizing targets in a good year,” wrote Geraghty.

The simple fact of the matter, he wrote, is that if the GOP underperforms for their fourth consecutive election cycle, “a key factor will be the replacement of competent, boring, regular state-party officials with quite exciting, blustering nutjobs who have little or no interest in the basics of successfully managing a state party or the basic blocking and tackling involved in helping GOP candidates win elections.”

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Abortion rights will be on the November ballot in Ohio.

The campaign backing a constitutional amendment proposal to protect abortion rights submitted enough valid signatures to qualify for the Nov. 7 ballot, Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose’s office said Tuesday.

Ohioans United for Reproductive Rights needed 413,487 signatures from registered voters in half of Ohio’s 88 counties, signed by no fewer than 5% of the electors of that county, to qualify for the ballot. LaRose said in a letter to the campaign it had achieved that goal, submitting 495,938 total valid signatures from 55 counties.

The campaign had submitted over 710,000 signatures July 5. During the following weeks, county boards of election verified each of the signatures, that the signers were registered voters in Ohio, and whether the address on their voter registrations matched the address on the abortion rights petition. Tuesday was the deadline for LaRose to certify the work of the county boards.

If approved, The Right to Reproductive Freedom with Protections for Health and Safety amendment would fall under Article I of the Ohio Constitution.

The proposed amendment would generally guarantee that patients could make their own reproductive decisions,

Fox News viewers scammed by gold coin scammers

Dedicated viewers of Fox News are likely familiar with Lear Capital, a Los Angeles company that sells gold and silver coins. In recent years, the company’s ads have been a constant presence on Fox airwaves, warning viewers to protect their retirement savings from a looming “pension crisis” and “dollar collapse.”

One such ad caught the attention of Terry White, a disabled retiree from New York. In 2018, White invested $174,000 in the coins, according to a lawsuit by the New York attorney general – only to later learn that Lear charged a 33 percent commission.

Over several transactions, White, 70, lost nearly $80,000, putting an “enormous strain” on his finances, said his wife, Jeanne, who blames Fox for their predicament: “They’re negligent,” she said. A regretful White said he thought Fox “wouldn’t take a commercial like that unless it was legitimate.”

Patriotism Police

I’ve noticed this at Phillies games.  There are self-appointed patriotism enforcers who will scream at you if they think you are taking too long to remove your hat during National Anthem.   It is ridiculous and annoying wingnut virtue signaling.   And oh yeah, they also think you should stand up for “God Bless America”  which is a garbage song.

Here’s an evergreen opening for you: Right-wing media is outraged that [people they perceive to be “woke”] are [doing … something]. In this case, members of the U.S. women’s national soccer team stood silently when the national anthem was played at the World Cup in Auckland, New Zealand. They didn’t take a knee, they didn’t raise a fist in protest, they didn’t grimace, and they didn’t shout. They stood silently and what you might call respectfully, if you weren’t dedicated to being outraged.

Commence the social media screaming. “The most shameful conduct.” “An insult to every American.” “An attack on our country, our flag, and those who fought and died for our nation.” Former U.N. Ambassador and South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, looking for traction in the Republican presidential primary, tweeted reproachfully about it. Many commentators took Haley’s approach, lecturing these women at the pinnacle of their sport, women who waged and won a years-long fight for equal pay, as if they were insufficiently grateful children.

Did the climate change asteroid finally hit this summer?

It seems like climate change has suddenly become a thing. I mean it has been a thing for a while now, but a thing this country could all easily laugh off or ignore. It was sneaking up on us.

78 degrees and sunny in November? Yes, please!

Now it is here and that’s good, right? The dunderheads will still try to ignore it or blame it all on Mexicans and libtards, I suppose. But there should be a large enough majority of non-dunderheads to contend with the deniers and racketeers, right?

I just noticed a lot of question marks in this post. I’m not the cocksure declarative blogger I once was.

This will work.

Last Week’s Poll Results and This Week’s Poll

It seems like last week’s poll turned into a McBride v Young proxy battle. But who is who? Is McBride the AOC/Sanders and Young is the Joe Biden? I guess it is possible. Living outside of Wilmington I know virtually nothing of Young, so he could be the “traditional democrat” in this round of voting. His announcement certainly strikes that tone. Similarly, you could say that McBride is the AOC here if you stand her up next to someone like Chris Coons, for example.

Which type of candidate would you prefer as your next congressperson?

  • A progressive democrat like Bernie Sanders or Alexandria Occasio-Cortez
  • A traditional democrat like Joe Biden

Total Votes: 128

This week’s poll – How do you think the Israel vote will go down?
