Wednesday Morning Fun: CRI
I have been thinking that CRI, which stands for “Caesar Rodney Institute” is probably secretly an acronym for something else. Let’s come up with other things that CRI might REALLY mean.
Just Wondering…
This weekend phone books were dropped off at my door. Does anyone under 60 still use those big, bulky books? I hate the idea of just dumping them into the recycling bin… any other ideas?
Is WDEL Intending To Mislead?
WDEL talks to some random pilot who thinks that we don’t need more air traffic controllers.
Crossing the Line (Again)
It didn’t take long for some of our less informed denizens of Sussex County to blow a gasket over the passage of SB 30. Today, the Fatman over at WGMD was spitting nails. He adamant that SB 30 was “a gay marriage bill, let’s not fool ourselves. We need to call it what it is.” […]
General Assembly Post-Game Wrap-Up/Pre-Game Show: Thurs., Apr. 14, 2011
The Senate passed SB 41 (Hall-Long), which would increase members of the New Castle County Board of Adjustment from 7 to 13 to reflect the number of councilmanic districts, and to require that each district have a member. I understand the intent of the bill. However, is it really in the public’s interest to have a Board of Adjustment that mirrors this less-than-august body?
Video and Transcript of President Obama’s Speech Today
This is posted and linked for the folks (like me) who couldn’t watch or listen to the speech this afternoon. The video is about 43 minutes long. Link to the transcript at whitehouse.gov is also provided if you’d rather read it.
God Hates Civil Unions
The Rev. Rita Mishoe Paige and The Rev. Christopher A. Bullock had an op-ed in opposition to civil unions in Delaware in the News Journal.
The Great Debate That Wasn’t
It was billed as a debate between Sussex County Council member Vance Phillips and Sheriff Jeff “Supercop” Christopher. One came armed with facts; the other with rhetoric. Phillips and Christopher are both conservatives. But Phillips, who’s been in office for 12 years, knows something about the Delaware Code. Christopher has been in office for a […]
Delaware General Assembly Post-Game Wrap-Up/Pre-Game Show: Tues., Apr. 12, 2011
Civil unions are but a week or two away from being legalized in Delaware. SB 30 passed the Delaware State Senate by a vote of 13 Y, 6 N, and 2 absent. Rep. Pete Schwartzkopf has already announced that the bill will be considered in House committee this Wednesday, and he’s made it real clear […]
Reducing the Size of Wilmington City Council
The NJ reported on this proposal by Councilman Bud Freel to reduce the size of City Council from 13 members to 9 on Monday. This evening, there will be a City Council meeting where there will be a debate and vote on a Resolution (pdf) from Charles Potter that opposes any reduction. His resolution has 7 co-sponsors, meaning that any plan to reduce the size of the City Council is probably dead. That doesn’t mean that there won’t be fireworks tonite.
