Chip Flowers’ Bold Plan
I have talked to Chip Flowers several times in the past at various political events. He and I have made small talk, or discussed small-time political analysis. After just a few minutes with him it is easy to see that he is a pretty nice guy. However, if you spend another hour with him, a […]
Mike Gave Us Quarters
You will remember when I first came to Delaware Liberal, my new compatriots were kind enough to allow me to bring over a logo I used on my old blog “Daily Delaware,” the one with the Caesar Rodney quarter. I did not learn until many months later that our illustrious founder Jason330 was kind of reluctant to do that, since Mike Castle was the author of the 50 States Commemorative Coin Program Act of 1997 that created the 50 State Quarter Program, and since Jason330 was Mike Castle’s mortal enemy. I was put in mind of that after reading the latest Kavips.
The Perennial Sloppiness of the News Journal Editorial Page
Let us count the ways: 1. Sunday’s paper had a couple of UD Professors of Economics firing up the noise machine for tax cuts to stimulate the economy. Even though two rounds of tax cuts moved the entire budget from surpluses to deficits — and structural deficits at that — that absolutely, positively never paid […]
Carper On Board? ***Updated*** Carper Says No
TPM is reporting that Tom Carper is now saying that he will sign onto the letter to pass the public option through reconciliation! Sen. Tom Carper (D-DE) tells TPMDC that he plans to sign a letter urging Senate leadership to pass a public option via reconciliation. “I expect that I will” sign, Carper said. The […]
Psst! Your Shallow Bench is Showing
Potential Republican Congressional candidate, Anthony Wedo dropped out of the race Friday. I believe that this leaves only Fred Cullis, the guy who had a half dozen people (mostly family and volunteers) at his announcement. They really have no one. I asked Charlie Copeland if he was running and he was pretty clear that he […]

Delawareans Hate Their Jobs
That is according to a recently released survey called the State of Well-Being (pdf) that has surveyed Americans and presented state-by-state reports on how people in that state view their lives. This is part of a long-term eefort being produced by Gallup to provide some measure of American’s health and well-being. And according to this study, Delaware ranks dead last among states for Work Environment, going down from last year’s ranking of 38th among the states. Here’s a summary of the data:
Rally for Health Care Reform
This is an announcement from Darlene Battle — and I hope that lots of you will be able to go to one of these, it’s a worthy cause: Delaware Residents TO RALLY FOR HEALTH CARE REFORM: WE VOTED FOR CHANGE. GET IT DONE Unions and Community Organizations To Tell Congress: Listen to Us, Not the […]
Castling
[Ed. note – cassandra_m contributed considerably to this post.] 2009 presented quite a dilemma for Mike Castle. The Republican party required obedience from all its members for their policy of no to succeed, but Mike Castle needed to keep his moderate credentials for his voters in Delaware, a blue state. Mike Castle knew what he […]
Snow Days
I drove my daughter to school this morning and the entire time I was thinking… why are schools open? For while the main roads are clear the side roads are a rutted mess of ice which turned my normally 10 minute round-trip into a harrowing 35 minute keep-my-wits-about-me experience. There’s no doubt about it. The […]

“Castle fights hypocrite label” Gee, I wonder why people would think that?
Breaking: NJ Fire in Progress/ Fire Over!
This comes to us via an anonymous tip, and seems to be confirmed on Twitter. Not sure yet of any details, except it looks like people have left the building. Picture of fire truck at the building. Picture of ladder on the roof. Hoping everyone is OK. Updates as we get them. Well that was […]
