Mad Props For LBR

Filed in Featured, National by on January 13, 2021 5 Comments

This video has gone, pardon the expression, viral. As well it should. You can see the barely-contained smirk on the face of QAnon Conspirator Marjorie Taylor Greene.  My favorite line?: “Don’t do yourself any favors.” These assholes have infected at least three members of Congress.  Meaning, of course, that at least one of them is […]

BREAKING?

Lots of fucking impeachment news overnight. Ive been waiting for “the other shoe to drop” for 4 years, so I didn’t stay up to follow it.   Did other shoes rain down roll down like waters, and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream?   If so, good.    If not – here is what I knew as of bedtime:

  • McConnell is now in favor of impeachment. Not so fast.   Nobody is saying that.
  • McConnell is now in favor of kicking Trump to the curb. Probably.
  • McConnell is a devious fucking devil working some game? Absolutely

The good news for America is that if it is true that McConnell is trying to “get rid of the President and Trumpism from the Republican Party” then there will be no Republican Party when this is all over.

McConnell believes impeachment push will help rid Trump from the GOP, but has not said if he will vote to convict

Washington (CNN) Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has indicated that he believes that impeaching President Donald Trump will make it easier to get rid of the President and Trumpism from the Republican Party, according to a source with knowledge of the matter.

Another person with direct knowledge told CNN there’s a reason McConnell has been silent on impeachment as other Republicans have pushed back: he’s furious about last week’s attack on the US Capitol by the President’s supporters, even more so that Trump has shown no contrition. His silence has been deliberate as he leaves open the option of supporting impeachment.

– Trump may be able to avoid prison, but there is no way he isn’t going to die a broke ass, loser.
– Should Delaware Schools go back to in person teaching?
So much lovely open thread below the fold.

DELAWARE

The FBI is warning of plans for armed protests in Dover Delaware, and other state capitals the days leading up to President-elect Joe Biden’s inauguration.   The coup planners are very candid about their violent intentions. They are telling everyone to “Come pissed!”  and “Come Armed!!” in order to “send a message” by …shooting up the capitol and killing more cops presumably.     Also …freedum!!

FBI bulletin warns armed protests being planned for Delaware State capitol

State police will not want to hurt these criminals feelings, so will these domestic terrorists be allowed to kill a bunch of people in Dover, as planned?  Take the poll ->.

Song of the Day 1/11: The Rolling Stones, “Play With Fire”

Filed in Arts and Entertainment, National by on January 11, 2021 0 Comments

Insurrectionists are finding out that their little cosplay coup has produced repercussions IRL. Should have listened to Mick and the boys, though I suppose this song, originally the B-side of “The Last Time,” isn’t a high-rotation song on classic rock radio. It should be. If it’s not a better song than “Angie,” at least its […]

Song of the Day 1/10: Randy Rainbow, “Sedition”

Filed in Arts and Entertainment, National by on January 10, 2021 2 Comments

You have to wonder what Randy Rainbow’s next gig will be in the post-Trump era. Will he turn into Vaughn Meader, the JFK impersonator whose career evaporated after Kennedy’s assassination? Meader was actually a musician before his First Family-spoofing comedy album, and he returned to music after his fall from popularity. Rainbow was an aspiring […]

Song of the Day 1/9: Was (Not Was), “Dad I’m in Jail”

Filed in Arts and Entertainment, National by on January 9, 2021 2 Comments

Lots of people who joined Vanilla Isis should be singing this one this morning, though maybe without the “Dad” — I read somewhere that the average age of the cosplay commandos is over 40. This is the last track from the 1982 Was (Not Was) LP “What Up, Dog?”

Song of the Day 1/8: Elton John, “Sorry Seems to Be the Hardest Word”

Filed in Arts and Entertainment, National by on January 8, 2021 0 Comments

The Republican rush for the exits had generated plenty of people saying “I-never-thought” and “we-only-meant,” but one word has been conspicuously absent from any Republican I’ve heard. Guess what it is. The second single from John’s “Blue Moves” LP reached No. 6 in the U.S. (No. 1 on the Easy Listening chart). In 2002, British […]

“People are saying…”

“People are saying…”

It is amazing to me how much of the world view of Trump (and basically all Republicans) hangs on what they just heard a caller tell Rush Limbaugh. The Party of personal responsibility? More like the party of unsubstantiated, unvetted, patently ludicrous nonsense.
