Song of the Day 9/19: Japandroids, “The House That Heaven Built”

Filed in National by on September 19, 2019 1 Comment

Back in 2012, Vancouver, B.C., duo Japandroids released a nearly perfect album, using just drums and guitar, full of punk-rock energy and classic-rock power chords. “Celebration Rock” sounds like a Clash song title, and “The House That Heaven Built” sounds a bit like a lost Joe Strummer/Mick Jones anthem from “London Calling.” The album made […]

Why hasn’t the Deep State removed Trump from office? Because they’ve mostly been working around him instead of with him or against him. But apparently Trump promised somebody in his Dictator of the Month Club something so egregious that it prompted a whistleblower complaint, which Republicans are illegally covering up. Still think they aren’t a […]

Did you know that Delaware is “unfriendly” to business?

Did you know that Delaware is “unfriendly” to business?

Delaware needs to improve its business climate. That may come as a surprise to DL readers. But, just look at this video created by a guy who inherited some grocery stores and a DuPont who inherited a bunch of money and property. They are experts on how to improve Delaware’s business climate.

Seriously. Watch it.

Guess what is killing the business climate in Delaware? It is unnamed “regulations” as usual. And this:

Zoe Callaway, a recent graduate of the University of Delaware, will serve as executive director. She told Delaware Business Times that the advocacy group will focus on fighting regulations and high-tax policies, including new income tax brackets and the real estate transfer tax .

Oops…Zoe slipped up and told the truth right out of the gate. How did she get this job?

So….Two millionaires think that their taxes are too high, so they formed a “grassroots” organization. It would be funny if these dicks didn’t have undertaxed millions to throw at this little project. It would be down right hilarious on its face if we had enough guts in Leg Hall to laugh these rich bozos out of the state.

Electability Elect-aschmility

Electability Elect-aschmility

Trump was electable because he is to the right of Biden. Biden is electable because he is not to the left of Biden. Everyone to the left of Biden is suffering from unelectability. It is astonishing but some people are still pulling down big punditry bucks with this type of analysis. I mean, I wish […]

It’s a 2 person race between Warren and Sanders

The Democratic Party has moved on even if Joe Biden hasn’t gotten the cable. Warren and Sanders are the candidates with ideas that will rally the base. It is really between those two. That Harris and Beto are polling at zero on DL’s very scientific sidebar poll speaks volumes. “We can’t choose a candidate we […]

Anyone who thinks Donald Trump is everything the quisling GOP wants in a president must reckon with the fact that he won’t go to war in the Middle East on the slightest provocation. Most of the GOP Senate is a bunch of bloodthirsty chicken hawks (a few even served), but even the pleading of presidential […]

Why the Location of Trump’s Silicon Valley Fundraiser Is a Secret

Filed in National by on September 17, 2019 0 Comments

Martin Longman writing at Progresspond.com says: They call it Silicon Valley for a reason. Computer chips are usually made by printing and etching really small circuitboards on thin slices of silicon called wafers. It involves a lot of math and chemistry and understanding of weird things like plasma. I know this because I used to […]

Corey Lewandoski Hearing Reveals Dems Impeachment Problems

Corey Lewandoski Hearing Reveals Dems Impeachment Problems

We now live in the age of Executive Privlidge. Anyone President Trump has ever spoken to is covered.

Mr. Lewandowski, please answer the question.

LOL No.

Thank you for your time and service, Mr. Lewandowski.

This Dkos coverage of the House Judiciary Committee questioning of Lewandoski is brutal. Democrats frankly suck at owning Republicans (even when the majority, all the facts and the truth is on their side), whereas Republicans have perfected owning congressional Democrats.

But the first two hours of the hearing showed that Lewandowski was going to give no cooperation, that Republicans on the committee were going to do everything possible to derail the proceedings, and that, for any impeachment inquiry to move forward, committee Chair Jerry Nadler is going to need to adopt a much tougher attitude toward uncooperative witnesses./blockquote>

Think the Cold War ended? Think again. Russian codebreakers reportedly hacked into the FBI’s comm systems and interfered with the agency’s tracking ability. Nearly 50,000 General Motors workers are out on a strike that pundits say neither side can really afford, which probably means each side will wait endlessly for the other to cave. House […]

What’s Kathleen K McGuiness Game?

What’s Kathleen K McGuiness Game?

It is hard to imagine what Kathleen McGuiness is up to. She is manifestly unqualified for the job she has. She shows no real interest in learning or doing the job. And yet she is self-promoting her motherfucking ass off as if she is interested in some other next job in government that she isn’t qualified for.

Maybe it is all just some pastime that is taking on its own momentum. Like learning to ski. You start on the bunny slope and naturally move up the the “greens” once you get the hang of it. Then you spend some lovely vacations meandering down the wide easy slopes, and one day you check out a “blue” because why not? If you are mildly athletic, you move up to the “black” and even if you aren’t great at it, there is some comforting structure to it, and the view is nice from the top of the mountain. Also, great lunches.

Bloodthirsty Coons Spoiling for War With Iran?

The Senate’s most despicable lackey for the Likud Party goes on Fox News to lay the intellectual groundwork for war with Iran. Sen. Chris Coons (D-Del.) among those who might support military action against Iran if intelligence determines Tehran was indeed behind the weekend attacks on major Saudi oil facilities. Coons, appearing Monday on Fox […]

Just read this “Clinton Grants China MFN, Reversing Campaign Pledge” from 1994

Trump is right about one thing and one thing only. China is kicking our ass. Read this nonsense from 1994 about what was supposed to happen in China and have a good laugh, or a good cry depending on your mood.

President Clinton Thursday reversed course on China and renewed its trade privileges despite what he said was Beijing’s lack of significant progress on human rights.

Echoing the case made by George Bush when he was president, Clinton said he was convinced the Chinese would take more steps to improve human rights if the issue were separated from the threat of trade sanctions.

“This decision offers us the best opportunity to lay the basis for long-term sustainable progress on human rights and for the advancement of our other interests with China,” he said at a news conference announcing his decision to extend China’s most-favored-nation (MFN) trade status.
