Joe Biden’s biggest opponent is Joe Biden

Filed in National by on March 10, 2019 9 Comments

People can change, but Biden has done everything to piss off Dem primary voters short of drowning an assistant in the backseat of a car while wearing blackface. At any rate, so far nobody has turned up evidence that Biden has drowned an assistant in the backseat of a car while wearing blackface. Today CNN […]

LBR Promises to Talk About “universal health care coverage” While Being Pro-Business

If you were worried that Lisa Blunt Rochester was not going to be sufficiently pro-business, she wants you to know that your worries are unfounded. In an “editorial” and email that seems like it was written directly, to me LBR basically says – “Relax, Everybody, I’m Carper Version 2.o”

Delaware facing a widespread crisis of competence under Carney

Delaware facing a widespread crisis of competence under Carney

First this:

NEW CASTLE, Del. (AP)- A Delaware prison released an inmate one night this week during a snowstorm.

Twenty-eight-year-old Misty Toomey had only her sweat suit when she was released from the Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution in New Castle.

She had planned to meet with Delaware Mentor Program officials who would provide her with clothing, toiletries, and other items for her re-entry into society before a daytime release. Toomey’s family and program officials also expected her to be released during the day.

Toomey’s midnight release comes after Delaware pledged to ensure released inmates have the needed resources to succeed outside of prison. State Department of Correction spokeswoman Jayme Gravell says the midnight release was unusual, but the prison has a “duty to release that person as quickly as possible.”

Why is Delaware so terrible at getting shit right? I have a theory. It is that there is plenty of money – but our electeds are too chickenshit to go after it. That leaves agencies starved for funding and making fucked up choices like the one described above.

Fucking terrible. Carney is a disaster.

CHINESE ENTREPRENEUR WHOSE FORTUNE IS BUILT ON SEX SLAVERY WATCHED SUPER BOWL WITH OBAMA!

It isn’t hard to imagine what the GOP and Fox News would have done with this story. Oh, and in addition to sex slavery, she started an influence-buying operation for Chinese officials and business leaders seeking the services of a committed group of political whores.

Light Manafort sentence is more proof the cavalry is not coming

No court, no special prosecutor, no Republican awakening, no market crash, nothing is going to save the country from Trump other than voting against Trump.  Only by voting against Republicans every time they stand for election for any office anywhere can the country get out this catastrophe. Every election for the foreseeable future is a single issue […]

My Mr. Ed Standard for Presidential Candidates

Filed in National by on March 8, 2019 13 Comments

Centrist presidential candidates are going to hype their electability, which is cheating of a sort — put any Democrat up against Donald Trump and that Democrat will look electable. And I would rather have any of the Democratic candidates, even Tulsi Gabbard, in the White House than Donald Trump. So the Trump yardstick is useless. […]

Will Caring About the Issues Help Elizabeth Warren?

People always say they wished campaigns would focus on serious issues and media should cover those issues rather than highlighting candidates’ missteps and updating the tote board. Elizabeth Warren is trying, and it’s instructive to see where that’s getting her. Today Warren laid out a proposal to break up the big tech giants so they […]

Dewey Beach is a Shitshow – Culture of Criminality & Drunkeness

FTR – I have no problem with Dewey’s culture of drunkenness. It is a crucible that has produced civic leading lights such as Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh. And…uh…Brett. Kavanaugh.

The culture of police intimidation, lying on official reports, selling equipment and pocketing the proceeds – that I have a problem with. The News Journal’s Maddy Lauria provides the deets.

Another Torpedo Hits SS Biden’s Vulnerable Port Side

Filed in National by on March 8, 2019 25 Comments

Even as the all-but-officially-running Joe Biden got a HuffPo cover piece touting his union bona fides, progressives with long memories and LexisNexis access scored another direct hit on his politics of the past. A Harper’s piece headlined “Joe Biden’s Disastrous Legislative Legacy” lays out a brief against Uncle Joe that is long, detailed and broad […]

I Love Michael Bloomberg and Sherrod Brown

I love the good judgment shown by politicians who explored running for president and thought better of it. This week billionaire centrist and former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg said he’ll forgo a run to focus on funding Democrats, presumably centrist ones. According to the New York Times story, “Polling and focus groups found […]

You’ve been tricked into recycling

You’ve been tricked into recycling

Recycling is bullshit. Sorting your bottles and cans…bullshit. You ‘ve been tricked into thinking that individual actions can help save the planet. It can’t. Corporations shifted the blame to you because they don’t want common sense regulations that would cost them a few % of bottom line profit. They played on our good nature and made it our job to save the planet from climate catastrophe.(read about the “Keep America Beautiful” scam here.) They could stop using plastics, and stop making single-use containers if they were made to, and guess what? They would still be super profitable because they don’t have to pay living ages.

All the time you spend recycling should be spent calling LBR’s sleep-walking ass to get her to do something in Congress.

While I’m at it, here is a stupid thing you hear. “You can’t talk about climate change, hypocrite, because you took an airplane someplace instead of walking.”

Bullshit.
