Delaware facing a widespread crisis of competence under Carney

Filed in National by on March 9, 2019

First this:

NEW CASTLE, Del. (AP)- A Delaware prison released an inmate one night this week during a snowstorm.

Twenty-eight-year-old Misty Toomey had only her sweat suit when she was released from the Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution in New Castle.

She had planned to meet with Delaware Mentor Program officials who would provide her with clothing, toiletries, and other items for her re-entry into society before a daytime release. Toomey’s family and program officials also expected her to be released during the day.

Toomey’s midnight release comes after Delaware pledged to ensure released inmates have the needed resources to succeed outside of prison. State Department of Correction spokeswoman Jayme Gravell says the midnight release was unusual, but the prison has a “duty to release that person as quickly as possible.”

Why is Delaware so terrible at getting shit right? I have a theory. It is that there is plenty of money – but our electeds are too chickenshit to go after it. That leaves agencies starved for funding and making fucked up choices like the one described above.

Fucking terrible. Carney is a disaster.

While I agree carney is a PoS, our elected be to chicken shit to go after money (our tax dollars?) isn’t the issue. It’s the anti freedom liberal feel good legislation they want to pass. Your story is also nothing but bad judgment on the corrections workers side. It hasn’t nothing to do with our shit governor. And where’s all this a matter obey you speak of? I really hope you’re not talking about tax dollars. I already work the first 4 hours of my work day for free to support the lazy, over billed state projects, under managed state programs and the like. We have one of he most wasteful governments who is always running out of money and constantly trying to tax us more.

You couldn’t be more wrong unless you are a millionaire – which I doubt. I agree that peons like you and me are already paid in full. In addition to the payroll taxes you mention, our chicken-shit elected officials are more than happy to go after your money every time you buy your smokes and bourbon.

No, Hugh. The dollars they are too afraid to go after are being hoarded by wealthy corporations that transact business here because we are tax haven that rivals the Cayman Islands.

We knew in advance Carney would be a sad excuse and a puppet for big business, but he’s transcended that to be even worse. As noted many times we need better Dems, and less overt nepotism would be nice as well. As for poor Hugh suggest he takes his meds and/or complete the third grade.

  3. Jason330 says:

The thing about Carney – he was such a non-entity coming in, such a tabula rasa, that he could have constructed a culture of competence or a brand around something other than helplessness and rudderless drifting.

But for him, it’s been helplessness today, helplessness tomorrow, helplessness forever.

The news journal picked up and fleshed out this AP Story a little. The DOC blames Misty Toomey for the release time of midnight on the night of a snowstorm – because, of course they do.

That and the appointment of self serving, vision-less, lame, entrenched and incompetent cabinet secretaries and division directors in every department.

Jason is hard on Carney and giving him credit for being smart and that’s wrong. It’s Gramic his top aide that pulls “all strings” in that admin. Remember when Carney was in the primary and Markel kicked his ass? One of the things Carney did wrong was for eminent domain for Wilm but not for the state. How dumb was that? Carney is in bed with the eminent domain crowd = Mayor of Wilm and his investor group. They make up a complete package of pay for play politicians that are not good for politics. Furthermore, if you look @ the Mayor’s campaign fund and Carneys not a lot of difference. Carney got $10m from the bond bill for economic development. DE has a sustainability problem = 90% polluted fresh water, 94% polluted ozone, 2nd from the bottom in cancer and 16th in opioid deaths. What company will bring jobs to a state with extremely bad sustainability? What are our elected officials doing about it? It takes smart people to get this done not hacks.

We need Gramsci. We have Gramic.

The corrections system will spend even more in overtime after shipping hundreds of inmates out of state to save money. I’m not an accountant, but that math doesn’t work for me.

HSS gives hundreds of thousands of dollars to a woman to provide sober housing to a vulnerable population. Only problem, she has ruined the lives of another vulnerable population by destroying their homes, not paying her taxes or sewer bills and blaming the residents.

Dept. of State can’t even seem to get doctors out of practice who are killing their patients.

I think this administration is going extremely well.
