Tom Carper and Chris Coons are co-chairs of "The Third Way" , a corporate Democrat's think tank in Washington that has been described as "oligarchy promoters pretending to be reasonable." Aside from Carper and Coons, the leadership of the Third Way is, "made up almost entirely of investment bankers and other Wall Street executives.[5] So it is not surprising that Caper's organization is going all out to undermine and discredit Elizabeth Warren.

The American South is a 3rd world hell hole, and they are dragging the rest of the country down with them.

The American south (with some help from trickledown economics) is literally killing this country.
The destruction of labor has been so comprehensive that first-world nations now offshore their jobs to the U.S. In other words, we’ve become the new India. Foreign companies now see us as the world’s cheap labor force, and we have the non-unionized South to thank for that.

I have to admit, I find the teabagger reaction to any praise for Nelson Mandela among Republican office holders to be quite revealing. No longer can anyone anywhere state truthfully that the Tea Party, and every member of it, are not full on flaming hateful racists. Senator Joe McCarthy er ah I mean Ted Cruz offered praise for Mandela, and he is burned in effigy on his Facebook page by teabaggers. Former Speaker Newt Gingrich likewise called Mandela “one of the greatest leaders of our lifetime,” and he was savagely attacked for it. But, to his credit, Gingrich did not slink away in fear like most cowardly conservatives. He fired back at his racist base, saying he is "surprised by the hostility and vehemence” of the racists, and then he asked them “[w]hat would you do here in America if you had the kind of oppression” suffered by South African blacks for decades? He also chastened his fellow Republicans for not being more vocal opponents of the apartheid regime before its fall. Gingrich, again to his credit, was one of the few Republicans back in the 1980's that fought to end apartheid and was one of the Republicans who helped override President Ronald Reagan’s attempt to veto sanctions against South Africa’s apartheid government.

My spouse started her attempt to replace a sub-standard health insurance policy 70 days ago. She is and was a huge supporter of the ACA compromise legislation as also am/was I. We were both big supporters of single payer, still are, but understand political compromise.

This got lost in the other news this week, and once again we ask ourselves, "If the President of the United States gives a policy speech, will anyone listen?" This is a plenty solid statement of progressive principles and if no one labeled them progressive , I'd bet there is alot here most Americans would absolutely agree upon. Because middle and low income people ARE being thrown under the economic bus and have been since the Reagan presidency. The disconnect is, of course, Congress and not one of our Congressional delegation (that I can find, anyway) has chimed in to note that the President has a point and that they are working on (detailed) stuff to help ameliorate this. Getting rid of the thumb on the scale for most of their voters is a clear way to better prosperity all around, but I gather that Third Way cred is going to be more important than you OR your vote. Anyway, here is the President's speech, about 48 minutes long.
