Remember to vote today in Red Clay.
Santorum looks good in Ohio and Tennessee, which have contests next week, on March 6. Romney looks good in Vermont and South Dakota. Meanwhile, the President is cruising in Pennsylvania and Vermont against both Republicans and is shockingly competitive in Tennessee of all places.
Monday Open Thread [2.27.12]
Sorry this Open Thread is late — much going on today. Please be sure to see Pandora’s excellent blogging on the Red Clay mess and be sure to pass this info on to your friends and relatives who might live in Red Clay. She’s done an excellent job of turning over the rock that is Red Clay decision-making.
Sunday Open Thread — Oscars Edition! [2.26.12]
Tonite the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences presents their awards for 2011 film achievements. If you are outside of this industry, the interest in the Oscars seems to be either, 1) Dishy — what they wore, who they were with, what they screwed up or 2) Snobby — mostly centered around the perceived lack of artistry in the nominations. I’m in Camp 2. So what do you think about this year’s nominations? Join us below and tell us who you think will win, what should have been nominated and preview the night’s gossip.
Saturday Open Thread [2.25.12]
We got your weekly messages from Governor Markell and President Obama, and the latest polling out of the Republican primaries, where Romney is looking more and more like he will win the Arizona and Michigan primaries on Tuesday, but it looks like he will have a Southern problem. Thus, the primary will continue. Good.
Friday Open Thread [2.24.12]
President Obama has a 10 to 1 cash on hand advantage over Mitt Romney. Bill Maher donated $1 million to Obama’s SuperPAC. And Tucker Carlson had something shocking to say, and something I agree with.
Thursday Open Thread [2.23.12]
New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez (R) “has lost a hair stylist thanks to her position against gay marriage,” KOB TV reports.
Says Antonio Darden, a popular stylist who runs Antonio’s Hair Studio in Santa Fe: “The governor’s aides called not too long ago, wanting another appointment to come in. Because of her stances and her views on this I told her aides no. They called the next day, asking if I’d changed my mind about taking the governor in and I said no again.”
This should happen more often. Conservatives consequently expect service from those they deny rights to.
Wednesday Open Thread [2.22.12]
Rick Santorum is now the stronger general election candidate against President Obama. I assume the reason for that is he inspires social theocratic fascists and is largely unknown to the rest of the general nonpartisan population, while Romney is now pretty much hated by everyone everywhere.
Tuesday Open Thread [2.21.12]
Here is something different: a poll of primary voters about who they want as Vice President. Now, I imagine that none of the four contenders will be picked as a Vice President nominee by the eventual winner. The four contenders are each toxic in their own right, and the toxic winner will need some fresh air to rehabiliate his campaign for the fall, and that means a fresh face. And yet, Santorum shockingly comes in second.
Monday Open Thread [2.20.12]
We a special Presidents’ Day Quiz, and some new polling results in Michigan and Texas. In Michigan, the race is getting closer, and in Texas, Mitt Romney comes in third, nearly thirty points behind the frontrunner.

“Newt Gingrich, Rick Santorum, and Mitt Romney all said that if elected president they would eliminate porn. In a related story, President Obama has already been re-elected.”—Conan O’Brien
Friday Open Thread [2.17.12]
The unpredictable Republican presidential race has taken another surprising turn as recent numbers show Mongol warlord Genghis Khan seizing the lead in national polls of likely GOP primary voters. Benefiting from widespread doubts about Mitt Romney’s authenticity and ideological commitment, Genghis has changed the shape of the race by sounding sharp populist themes that resonate with supporters of the tea party. “Mitt Romney wants to manage Washington, D.C.,” he told an enthusiastic crowd in Scottsdale, Arizona. “I want to burn it to the ground, slay its inhabitants, and stack their skulls in pyramids reaching to the sky.”
Thursday Open Thread [2.16.12]
Nate Silver gives Santorum a 77% chance of winning the Michigan primary. He also now says the fundamentals favor an Obama victory in the fall.
