The New Hampshire Senate race ... is closer than you might think. The three most recent nonpartisan polls — by New England College, SurveyUSA and WMUR — put Shaheen up by an average of 3 points. Her lead, which has tightened since the summer, is steady but it's narrow, and most polls have her below the 50 percent threshold. That's hardly safe territory.
She is running against a total douche bag in Scott Brown. And yet...
...Cook Political Report shifted its rating of the race from "lean Democratic" to "tossup," deeming it one of 10 contests poised to determine Senate control.
How could that be?

Conservative columnist and climate change skeptic George F. Will baffled his fellow Fox News on Sunday panelists by insisting that scientists had not come to a consensus about whether Ebola could go airborne. Uh, Georgie poo, if Ebola was airborne, by now, the population of Dallas, Texas and Cleveland, Ohio, not to mention the whole continent of Africa, would be showing symptoms by now. I really am amazed at the conservative brain, or lack thereof. I mean, George Will is suppose to be one of their smart ones.

I'm asking, because I'm not seeing much campaigning. Is it me? Is Sean Barney absolutely crushing it outside of lower New Castle County? Granted, my interest in this campaign is minimal, so my political radar isn't constantly scanning the horizon - but that makes me a normal voter this round. Or maybe this is the strategy, keep a low profile and just ride the registration advantage to a win? If anyone has some insight into this race, I'd be eager to hear it.

I can predict that next year's General Assembly will be all about education and pot. Why pot?
A majority of Delawareans support fully legalizing marijuana according to a new poll, but the issue’s political future isn’t quite as certain. 56 percent of state residents are in favor of it, compared to 39 percent opposing the issue according to the University of Delaware poll.

Sheriff Christopher Screws Up and Cost Sussex County $7,426,461

It is all laid out for you in this Delaware Right Guest Post by Georgetown lawyer John Sandy. Sandy took a look at the recent bid documents reprocuring process serving services in the County. The Constitutional Sheriff couldn't bring himself to follow the requirements of the RFP and lost the contract. A contract that should have added about $7M to Sussex County coffers. Seriously -- go read the whole thing. Mr. Sandy provides documentation to back this up and also takes a look at how Christoper paid for his lawsuit via a non-refundable retainer with one of the law firms that represents the County. He claims that since it was a non-refundable retainer, that his lawsuit where multiple courts told him his view of the constitution wasn't even worthy of a fiction award, that the taxpayers paid no money for his defense. Sussex doesn't operate on a retainer basis and Sandy provides a summary of the invoices presented to the County to defend his boondoggle. Seriously folks, go read the whole thing. Not only is Christoper a bad constitutional scholar (?), he's been an incompetent administrator of the office, losing a major revenue stream. And he is a liar. Sussex County citizens should send him to jail.

The Wall Street Journal reports that Hunter Biden failed a drug test for cocaine last year and was discharged in February of this year. For reasons passing understanding, he received a commission as a public affairs officer in the Naval Reserve after receiving a special waiver due to his 42 years of age. This was after a career as an attorney, a lobbyist, and an investment banker. Given those careers, it is likely that this was not Hunter's first encounter with cocaine (yeah, you don't start at 42). I am sure Hunter is not expecting there to be consequences, other than public embarrassment and discharge, which have already taken place (and the embarrassment will continue for a while). And he likely will not be. That is quite a privilege.
