July 24 Open Thread: Stand Your Ground = License to Kill
The latest Florida outrage — I know, it’s a new one almost every day — involves the cold-blooded slaying of another black man by another white man who apparently will get away scot-free by invoking the NRA’s notorious stand-your-ground law, claiming that the white man felt his life was threatened by the black man, who […]

1. It’s Official: Sturgeon vs. Lavelle. Monsignor Lavelle has filed, much to the delight of the NRA. The Senator earned the monicker ‘monsignor’ by supporting the Catholic Diocese’s cover-up of pedophile priests and opposing granting victims the right to sue. He effectively became a human rain delay by denying victims of abuse by clergy the […]

1. It’s On. Kerri Harris Vs. Tom Carper. I should probably lead with this story every week from now on as it’s pretty clear that this campaign will have to generate its own news w/o any media assistance. Except for us. We’ve been calling for a race like this for years, we have chronicled Carper’s […]

1. Park City Kathy Makes It Official. Yes, she’s running. For State Auditor. You know, the Public Watchdog of the Purse Strings. Here’s what she said as part of her announcement: “My motivation is that I have been paying taxes and I know we can do better for all Delawareans.” Heavy, man. Let’s cut through […]
Wilson’s impatience rankles GOP
Reading the seething between the lines of his Facebook post, it is clear that Dave Burris is pretty pissed off at David Wilson. I’m not sure what effect that anger adds up to in the race to replace Simpson in the State Senate. Maybe it amounts to nothing, but Milford’s well-liked Mayor, Bryan Shupe, seems […]
Have a great Holiday break…In January we start rocking and rolling
I don’t think a Republican should win any office, anywhere north of Milford next November. If you look at last year’s Insurance Commissioner results, for example, Democrats won or were within 150 votes everywhere decent people live in the state.
That’s a solid base to build on. In 2018, if Democratic challengers can’t harness anti-Trump, anti-GOP energy next year, we all deserve the miserable lots I life that the GOP is working towards.
Carney Looking to Raise Property Taxes, More Coffee Klatches
Instead of raising income taxes on the far richest in Delaware and those that can afford it, Carney is looking at raising property taxes. Do both, sir, do both. “Here’s the way I look at taxes: they ought to be fair; they ought to be simple; they ought to generate revenue; and they ought to […]
Is Immigration Personal?
It turns out immigration in the United States is personal. If you have consistent personal contact with immigrants regardless of their origin, chances are you are against President Marmalade’s recent executive. If you hang out in a coffee shop off of any highway in Delaware, chances are you only have limited experience with recent immigrants. And, yet, somehow, you remain blissfully ignorant.
