How Mayor Mike And John Carney Tried To Stop Today’s Protest.  A must-read. There are elements of this story that utterly fascinate me.  Plus, there is a villain, who is neither Carney nor Purzycki (they are merely feckless).  First, I get it. We just had a looting rampage in parts of Wilmington. The governor and […]

1.  The Most Important State Legislative Primary This Year. Marie Pinkney has filed to challenge President Pro-Tempore David B. McBride in the 13th Senatorial District.  She has a great chance to win.  She is a progressive, she is a grassroots organizer, and, if she defeats McBride, it will mark a sea change in the Senate […]

Song of the Day 6/4: Roy Rogers, “Don’t Fence Me In”

Filed in Arts and Entertainment, National by on June 4, 2020 1 Comment

Our Big Quivering President is furthering his image as an incompetent banana Republican dictator by installing more fencing around the House Painted White Because It’s Been Torched Before. The optics are terrible for him — the open plains such a foundational part of the American myth that even Cole Porter himself could write a classic […]

American Military & Defense Leaders Abandon Trump.  Gen. Mattis.  Admiral Mullen. James Miller.  Defense Secretary Esper.  Even the compromised current Joint Chiefs Chair, Gen. Mark Milley, tried to walk back his disastrous participation in Trump’s photo-op: Senior Pentagon leaders are now so concerned about losing public support — and that of their active-duty and reserve […]

The War on White Supremacy Has Many Fronts

K-Pop [a genre of popular music originating in South Korea that has amassed enormous fandoms of teenagers and young adults] Stans [a very active instagram group that expresses extreme fandom for popular artists or artist groups] are spamming racist twitter hashtags with post to drown out racists. On Twitter, the hashtags #WhiteLivesMatter, #WhiteoutWednesday and #BlueLivesMatter […]

Yes! Yes! Yes! Marie Pinkney Files To Challenge Dave McBride!

She will run in the Democratic Primary against the absentee incumbent.  She is so deeply involved in the community that the tragic events of the last week make her election both more likely and more necessary. I was flat-out blown away by her presentation before the Working Families Party/Leftward Delaware group back in February.  Here’s […]

Song of the Day 6/3: Nate and Craig Anderson, “Books of the Bible”

Filed in Arts and Entertainment by on June 3, 2020 0 Comments

This one’s a public service for our Big Phony President, who couldn’t name a book of the Bible to save his shriveled soul. I have no idea who the musicians are, but of the dozens of songs online dedicated to teaching kids the books of the Bible, this turn-of-the-millennium pop-punk production gave them the catchiest […]

Everything Falls Apart, Police Brutality Edition, Ctd. A largely-peaceful and effective day of protests. Dubya supports protesters. An amazingly empathetic statement.  So far, public hates Trump’s response.  I am encouraged.  Public supports Black Lives Matter. I am encouraged.  NYPD Continues Lawless Attacks Against Protesters.  Hey, they don’t live there and they enjoy inflicting pain.  Confirmed […]

Joe Biden’s Philadelphia Speech – Full Transcript

I am persuaded that Democrats picked the right person to defeat Donald Trump.

…We can’t be naive about it. I wish I could say that hate began with Donald Trump and will end with him. It didn’t, and it won’t. American history isn’t a fairy tale with a guaranteed happy ending. The battle for the soul of this nation has been a constant push and pull for more than 240 years, a tug of war between the American ideal that we’re all created equal, and the harsh reality that racism has long torn us apart.

Leaked Stonewall Endorsement Questionnaire Puts Pressure on Republicans to Come Clean

This in via the tip line:

7. While Delaware Stonewall PAC is non-partisan and is willing to endorse and fund
candidates of any party, or no party at all, we are very cognizant of the fact that the
presidency of Donald Trump has rolled back many of the rights of our community and, if re-
elected, he will likely continue to do so and appoint federal judges who may very well
overturn precedent that have recognized the rights of our community. How you vote is a
private matter, however, will you pledge to not support the re-election of President Trump and not support candidates for office whose platforms are opposed to LGBTQ rights?(emphasis added)

It is a little squishy for me, but it is something. If this goes unanswered by the lying GOP scumbags like Mike Ramone and Anthony Delcollo, then I would think it would be impossible for Stonewall the repeat the endorsement mistakes they made in 2016.

Song of the Day 6/2: Sublime, “April 29, 1992”

Filed in Arts and Entertainment by on June 2, 2020 0 Comments

The title is the date the Rodney King riots broke out in Los Angeles, when the cops who beat him were acquitted of assault — but lead singer and songwriter Bradley Nowell sings it as April 26. Apparently is was just a mistake, but given that Nowell was dead of a heroin overdose by the […]
