Yeah, whatever happend to that crazy fucking guy who bragged about having the tallest building in Manhattan on the evening of the 9/11 attacks?

Filed in National by on September 11, 2023 2 Comments

He must be in some kind of institution by now. He said: “40 Wall Street actually was the second tallest building in downtown Manhattan, and it was actually, before the World Trade Center, was the tallest. And then, when they built the World Trade Center, it became known as the second tallest. And now it’s […]

Song of the Day 9/11: Shawn Colvin, “Viva Las Vegas”

Today marks a memorable anniversary. I speak, of course, of Sept. 11, 1991, the date The Dude writes a 69-cent check to pay for a quart of half-and-half at Ralph’s in “The Big Lewbowski.” Music is integral to many of the Coen brothers’ films, especially “O Brother, Where Art Thou?” and “Inside Llewyn Davis,” but […]

The weakest infrastructure week

A couple of places Trump and his defenders are saying Trump didn’t get any infrastructure done because Democrats were mean to him.

If he stays another six days he’ll be on the hook for a $575 “Garden Premium” membership.

As the search for a Pennsylvania convicted killer enters its ninth day, Delaware State Police stand at the ready should Danelo Cavalcante cross state lines.

If the outcomes on guns, on the environment, on social justice are always the same no matter who is in power..if the same people always win and the same people always lose, whats the point of caring?

Fighting hard and losing is one thing,  it hurts but people can understand the justice in that.  But fighting hard and “winning” to only lose in the end in far worse.  Because then you are not only a loser but a loser who is also a sucker.

Happy Monday, Suckers.

Song of the Day 9/10: Sunny War, “Whole”

Filed in Arts and Entertainment by on September 10, 2023 0 Comments

Venice Beach-based singer-songwriter Sunny War got a big media push when her latest album, “Anarchist Gospel,” dropped back in February, but the song that WXPN picked up didn’t catch my ear the way this one did when it popped up on a Spotify list the other day. Sydney Lyndella Ward’s bluesy folk has won her […]

Coco Gauff–A Star Is Born.  So easy to root for: Gauff was identified as a potential future champion at the age of 15, and she hauled expectations around like a sack of rocks throughout her adolescence and deep into this season, which included a first-round loss at Wimbledon in July that only increased the burden. The Democratic Party’s Learned Helplessness is Killing America

Filed in National by on September 10, 2023 9 Comments

With the country and state facing serious problems, when Democratic “leaders”  like Bryan Townsend, BHL, Carney, Coons simply shrug and say “our hands are tied” young people are quite right to say “Fuck it. They all suck.”

Here is a rare instance of a Democratic Governor saying – My Hands are not fucking tied.

Open And Concealed Carry Suspended In Albuquerque and Bernalillo County

An 11-year old kid was killed this week after an Albuquerque Isotopes baseball game, in a road rage incident. New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham decided enough was enough, and imposed a suspension on open and concealed carry for 30 days in Albuquerque and the surrounding county.

Lujan Grisham said she anticipated legal challenges to this action, and some other officials in the state quickly criticized the move and suggested it was unconstitutional. But she defended the step as vitally necessary for public safety.

The governor said the suspension was a civil order and would be enforced by the state police, rather than any local law enforcement agency. The people who violate the measure would face fines.

Albuquerque, which is the state’s most populous city with more than half a million residents, has in recent years endured a painful increase in gun violence. In each of the last two years, the city set records in terms of homicides. Other communities across the country have also experienced bleak increases in gun violence in recent years.

White “back the blue” family shocked after suffering police abuse

Filed in National by on September 10, 2023 3 Comments

What’s the point of white privilege if it doesn’t get you a police escort to the veterinarian? A white “back the blue” family was speeding their dog to the veterinarian after it had been hit by a car. When stopped by the police, they assumed white privilege and that cops would escort them to medical […]

Earthquake In Morocco.  A bad one: A rare, powerful earthquake struck Morocco late Friday night, killing more than 800 people and damaging buildings from villages in the Atlas Mountains to the historic city of Marrakech. But the full toll was not known as rescuers struggled to get through boulder-strewn roads to the remote mountain villages […]

Song of the Day 9/8: Bobby “Blue” Bland, “I Wouldn’t Treat a Dog (The Way You Treated Me)”

It’s impossible to satirize the stupidity of MAGAts because they’re stupider than any smart person can pretend to be. How else to explain the results of the recent poll of 2,200 dog owners found that 37% of them consider canine vaccines unsafe because – I’m not making this up – they might give their dogs […]
