This defense – “I’m not a seditionist or terrorist, but was just hanging out with some seditionists and terrorists when sedition and terror broke out.” Reminds me a lot of this classic Onion headline – Why Do All These Homosexuals Keep Sucking My Cock?

Song of the Day 8/31: Graham Nash and David Crosby, “Frozen Smiles”

Filed in Arts and Entertainment by on August 31, 2023 0 Comments

Mitch McConnell’s freeze-up yesterday seems like a gift for all those people who wished something would shut him up, but it’s also a reminder – and old people need them often – of what you get with a Government of Grandpas. When Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young broke up in 1971, each of the quartet […]

Trump admits that he has no legitimate legal defense – everything rides on being President again

Filed in National by on August 30, 2023 0 Comments

I think we all knew this, but now it is confirmed.

From a Monday morning New York Times report written by Alan Feuer, “Trump has made no secret in private conversations with his aides of his desire to solve his jumble of legal problems by winning the election. If either of the two federal trials he is confronting is delayed until after the race and Mr. Trump prevails, he could seek to pardon himself after taking office or have his attorney general simply dismiss the matters altogether.

And if he doesn’t win in 432 days he’ll probably submit quietly to the FBI and serve his time.

Former President Trump told conservative media personality Glenn Beck he would prosecute his political enemies if elected president again.

“You said in 2016, you know, ‘Lock her up,’” Beck reminded Trump of his statements about Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton in 2016 during an appearance on his BlazeTV show Tuesday. “And then when you became president, you said, ‘We don’t do that in America. That’s just not the right thing to do.’”

“That’s what they’re doing,” Beck continued, asking the former president, “Do you regret not locking her up? And if you’re president again, will you lock people up?”

Trump, who dismissed the various charges he faces in Georgia, New York, Florida and Washington, D.C., said there is “no choice.” “Well, I’ll give you an example… The answer is you have no choice, because they’re doing it to us,” Trump said, adding that he “never hit Biden as hard as I could have.”

“I always had such great respect for the office of the president and the presidency … And then I heard he was trying to indict me, and it was him that was doing it,” he said.

Filed in Arts and Entertainment by on August 30, 2023 0 Comments

I swear this isn’t a reference to Donald Trump, though it could be. Not because he’s the size of a cow – hey, give him his due, he’s a 6’3″ monument to unearned male vanity – but because, like the song’s narrator, he’s blown up his problems that big. The Wonder Stuff came out of […]

DEGOP Candidate Recruitment Sputters – Winner of Dem Governor Primary May Run Unopposed

While it is well known that the DEGOP is having problem raising money, Julianne Murray chaired DEGOP is also having significant problems raising candidates.   While the DEGOP would typically have a collection of angry crackpots lined up to “take one for the team” and lose in each of the statewide races, this year the party’s cupboards are bare.
