Kidnappings of Iraqis, usually for ransom and sometimes by sectarian death squads, are an everyday happening in Iraq, occurring by some estimates as often as 30 to 40 times a day across the nation. Kidnappings of foreigners — most often contractors, but sometimes journalists, soldiers or workers from relief organizations — are much more rare and have come in waves, according to the Brookings Institution’s Iraq Index

I had a post last week that asked who we are at war with and why are we in Iraq but we I seem to have been pulled away from the central reason we are in Iraq.

Jason, courtesy of Kavips tries to real us back in here but we still sit here arguing with some regulars about this ridiculous war in Iraq, terrorism in general and if Iran has nukes.

Lest anyone forgets, Iraq is sitting on a pretty big supply of a million year old Dinosaur shit and Exxon, Shell and few other small oil fella’s are wringing their hands around thier phallic looking model drilling machines just waiting to sink them into to some oiled up Iraqi hole.

While we sit here and debate with people that think we just need to instill democracy over there and our job is done, the media and myself included have not mentioned big oil in quite a while.  I can’t remember the last time I saw a report about what is going on with this oil sharing agreement.  In fact I know I haven’t. 

HELLLOOOOO people, Iraq has fucking OIL in case you forgot.  They have the something like the 3rd largest suppy of oil.  And not that shitty Venezuelan crude that takes forever to filter, the good stuff, the reall good stuff actually…and oh, hey! look, I just paid $3 a gallon to fill up….

I was for the war, before I was against it.  I admit it.  I was one of the senseless idiots that thought this was a good thing.  I remember being sucked in by CNN.  I couldn’t get enough of the war.  I remember the day that I saw those images of tracers lighting up the sky.  I was impressed.  I was sitting there in my chair eating it up like a pig.  I couldn’t pause for more than an hour or two without trying to find some new information about the military’s progress. 

The maps CNN displayed showed the tanks, the forces at work, the directions they were marching.  The sites they were taking and the people they were destroying.  It was great.  It was like watching a video gamer go to town on a country.  One consultant after another would talk about the killing ability of this missle, that helicopter or this aircraft.  It was impressive and completely satisfying.  We were killing machines, fucking plowing through some piece of shit country that wanted to kill us.  FUCKING KILL THEM ALL!
