Late Night Video — You Are More Beautiful Than You Think

John Young posted this in the Friday Open Thread. I had seen this some days back on Facebook and was not prepared for the emotional impact of this video. On the one hand, this is part of a Dove campaign. On the other hand, this is a remarkable demonstration of one of the ways women underestimate and sabotage themselves. This is close to 10 minutes long, but I think well worth every minute.

Late Night Video — Jon Stewart Tackles Guess Who’s Coming to Howard

As usual, he nails it. Especially the collective ignoring of the last 50 years of GOP history. Especially choise that he found articles from the 70s when the GOP explicitly wrote off the Black vote, wanting the VRA to stay alive, because that would drive more southern whites to the GOP.

Late Night Video — To This Day

To This Day is a poem by Shane Koyczan — a man who understands bullying from the perspective of both the bullied kid and as the bullier. This poem explores the deep pain and dislocation of being bullied and being the bullier. And he has a message for those experiencing the same difficulties. This video is approx. 12 minutes long and I was in tears at the end:

Late Night Video –What If You Rammed Every Car That Cut You Off

Ever been cutoff by a clueless driver? Where you had to accomplish the feat of standing on your brakes while also spewing forth every curse you’ve ever known? Me too. So what if you didn’t hit your brakes and just hit the offender’s car? That is what the maker of these videos has done — Alexei Volkov, a bus driver in Zelenograd, Russia not only just hit the cars that cut him off, but he videotaped them. This video (approx. 1 min, 30 secs) is a compilation of some of these events. It is funnier than it should be and I do not endorse this, but damnit, I sure do understand why he did it!
