Comment Rescue: Dave’s Side

Filed in National by on November 1, 2007

One thing you can say about Celia is that she knows how to push my buttons.

Dave did not respnd to Celia’s questions when she was drafting the story, but responds in the comment section:

What is the difference between DCCC sending mail and the DSEA sending two pieces of mail? I was prepared to file until I was told I didn’t have to. I would 100% support a bill to make PACs file if they participate in the special. I didn’t lie or mislead anyone. We fight hard but we stay clean. And we’d be the only ones.

I’d say that one difference is that the DCCC mailings attacked Ennis for being against “Open Government.” Which is the DCCC up to with that? Fighting hard or staying clean?

What is the difference between DCCC sending mail and the DSEA sending two pieces of mail?

One was created to advocate the interests of its supporters.

The other was created to conceal the names and interests of its supporters.

  2. M. Opaliski says:

    Conceal ?

All PAC’s are bound by the same rules and regs, and I’m sure the DCCC will comply when the calendar makes it’s demands …

  3. anon. says:

Dave, the difference is, one is paid for by the DSEA who we all know. Yours is paid for and hid by you, who claims to be the godfather of “open govt. (Mr. my shit doesn’t stink). Dave, your starting to smell like shit!

  4. Mark King says:

Matt, take your spin elsewhere. I’m sure Dave called you to be his rescue-hack.

  5. anon. says:

Conceal? Yes Matt, conceal. Dave intentionally checked the unaffiliated box on the application, would’nt return calls, has no explanation, and is silent about the issue. He did conceal this.

  6. jason330 says:

    M.

Even if you want to think the best about Dave (WHICH I DO), this race was already under a cloud when they tried to get the pac to pay for a mailing that they were not allowed to pay for.

Then they said, “Sorry. It was a mistake.”

Okay. It was a mistake. Now this? I think we are being asked to demonstrate a lot more patience than we’d get if the shoe was on the other foot.

  7. Yodel says:

Thanks “JC” for showing us what liberals and Ennis supporters are really like.

Just couldn’t stay away from the M-Word, eh?

    You’re such cowards

  8. G Rex says:

Joke’s on you, Yodel. I’d explain it to you, but then the rest of us couldn’t enjoy it as much.

  9. George says:

JC – don’t be an ass. You’re giving losers like Yodel something to bitch about.

  10. anon. says:

Yodel is probably Dave, or DCCC, or one of his other hidden secret PACS.

  11. Yodel says:

    I don’t think it’s a joke. I think that’s the way you really are.

    I’ll pull my lever appropriately.

I heard the whispers around town. If that’s the only way Ennis and party can play, it’s time they were sent home.

  12. Yodel says:

You guys think everyone is Dave. Grow up.

  13. jason330 says:

I hate the mormon crap and have zapped a few of those comments in the past. Some dumbass always feels the need to go there.

  14. G Rex says:

Good for you, Jason. Too bad you couldn’t keep the first part of the post.

  15. anon. says:

    O.k. Dave, I mean Yodel.

  16. M. Opaliski says:

“Matt, take your spin elsewhere. I’m sure Dave called … ”

Dave Burris has never called me, ever. Hey Dave – what’s up with that man ?

But to digress, there are rules in place regarding PAC’s, is it wrong to follow them – sans the mailer dubbed a “mistake” ?

“Conceal? Yes Matt, conceal. Dave intentionally checked the unaffiliated box on the application, would’nt return calls, has no explanation, and is …”

How concealed can it be if you know his name is on the Statement of Organization for this PAC ?

And, as an aside, did you go to Dover and get a copy of the DCCC Statement of Org, heard about it somewhere, maybe it crossed your desk ?

How did you know of it, assuming you’re the same anon that first mentioned it …

15 DelC. § 219(b) says politicing can get you fired …

  17. jason330 says:

oohhh… M Opaliski thinks that the Dems have a mole in the Department of elections.

How else would they ever win elections, right M?

  18. RickJ says:

Can someone define “unaffiliated” for me?

If it’s political affiliation (i.e. R or D) then I can understand why there is some concern here – although if Protack wins a primary, I’d imagine the DCCC will not reflexively support him as a candidate.

If it’s candidate affiliation, then there’ not an issue. Any PAC that picks a side in this race is working for just one candidate, because there’s only one election. In ten months, I’d imagine the DCCC will be working for other candidates in other races.

Since I can’t find the application (filled or empty) online, I think this stink is about nothing.

  19. jason330 says:

although if Protack wins a primary, I’d imagine the DCCC will not reflexively support him as a candidate.

Thanks for the laugh. I needed that.

  20. RickJ says:

“oohhh… M Opaliski thinks that the Dems have a mole in the Department of elections. “

Since the Director is an appointed position, appointed by the Governor, and the office has been held by partisans in the past, that isn’t an unheard of assertion. Matt didn’t say that, because the paperwork would be public knowledge to anyone who asked for it.

  21. RickJ says:

“Thanks for the laugh. I needed that.”

    I’m here just to please.

Between liberalgeek and you enjoying my handiwork, I think I might be doing something wrong here…

  22. what? says:

Lets not get away from the original post here that Celia kicked Daves ass, and he has yet to explain himself.

  23. anon. says:

…paging Dave Burris…..paging Dave Burris…come in Dave. Don’t worry Dave we’ll all be here when you decide to come back.

  24. M. Opaliski says:

Any Political Committee starts out with this form – Statement of Organization

There is no box for “unaffiliated”

“M Opaliski thinks that the Dems have a mole in the Department of elections …”

I never said a mole, but surely there are Dems in the DOE just as there are Republicans. My question wasn’t about a mole, it was about where or how did anon come to know the specifics of a newly formed PAC, unless they just happen to read the SOG’s for all PAC’s, all the time …

  25. George says:

    M –

Wait. So, access to public documents necessitates a “mole” in the Department of Elections?

Uhm, aren’t you the alleged open government people? Who the hell cares who looked at the organization statement – it’s a matter of public record and should be out in the public.

You guys are such frauds. Open government as long as it’s not you being exposed… Enjoy the ride into oblivion boys.

  26. Yodel says:

Open government would apply to those in office, making decisions, spending public money.

PACs are entitled to the privacy afforded to them by law.

  27. liberalgeek says:

Matt, perhaps unaffiliated was in the description next to “Other”

Anyone have a copy of the original application?

  28. fsp says:

    I do.

  29. anon. says:

Matt, unaffiliated/other= same thing. You’re trying to split hairs here, and starting to act like Dave.

  30. George says:

    <<>>

    YODEL –

Excuse me. I will assume by your unlettered response that you are wholly unfamiliar with these topics.

You guys have totally been exposed for the chumps you really are. It’s so wonderful.

Saturday, you’ll lose. Then, when the PAC filing is made, we’ll get to see where the money actually came from.

It will make the victory last for months.

  31. M. Opaliski says:

    Mole.

Ok, you got me – I said mole.

I agree that it should be out in the public – and it is – all you have to do is ask for it at the DOE and pay the petty document fee.

Oh, and you need to know what documents you’re asking for so you would need to have some sort of knowledge that there even was a new PAC dubbed DCCC, one that never before filed any finance reports …

I never said there was a mole.

  32. George says:

    Jason –

I hear they’re using Castle’s voice for phone calls on behalf of Christian. I’m sure you love that.

I love how they trot out Castle’s lukewarm corpse every time there’s an election they fool-hardedly think they might win.

Rep. Hutchison and Attorney General Wharton have him to thank, among many others.

  33. liberalgeek says:

Perhaps John Atkins is making his annual November news. Last year was a hum-dinger and he does still run in those circles.

  34. anon. says:

Over at the Delaware State News Smyrna/Clayton blog their reporting that 8 people showed up at the Leipsic “meet and greet JC” last night, and someone repoted that their was no sign of the “RICH FAT KID FROM LEWES”. Priceless.

  35. donviti says:

amazing how we have so many hits from FSP but very few comments….

    HI DAVE…Keep reading

feel free to comment over here, we allow it in fact we encourage open discussion

  36. anon. says:

I also know Copelands father donated $25,000 to his bogus, exposed, PAC last week.

  37. liberalgeek says:

Dave – Care to forward it to me? You have my email address. 😉

You may also send along the list of contributions if you would like…

  38. jason330 says:

    Jason –

I hear they’re using Castle’s voice for phone calls on behalf of Christian. I’m sure you love that.

What is this, push Jason’s buttons day?

  39. Dave says:

I only have it in paper form and have no scanner. I will also be without internet access for large chunks of the next few days. But I’ll get it to you.

  40. r smitty says:

Rep. Hutchison and Attorney General Wharton have him to thank, among many others.

And who is this Hutchison you are referring to, “George?” I really want to see if you’re going where I think you are.

What is this, push Jason’s buttons day?
So simple, a baby could do it.

  41. Interesting but for a real issue I will be at the U of D economic coneference tomorrow and also be on WDEL talking about health care.

If you need a welcome relief from this drama.

    Drive carefully.

  42. anon. says:

Nah, Mike thanks for the invite, but I’d rather stay here and kick Daves lying ass.

  43. smyrnadudette says:

Dave:, no scanner, no internet access???? You must be in withdrawal; or using several of your many aliases on the Smyrna/Clayton forum??????

  44. disbelief says:

No scanner or internet access? Copy machine and US Mail. Takes about 24 hours to receive inside Delaware.

(I get the feeling Dave is going to pretend to not understand English for the next few months)

  45. disbelief says:

By the way, smyrnadudette, I can tell you’re hot just from your post. But be careful, donviti gets insanely jealous to be challenged in the hot blogger category.

  46. donviti says:

hottest male blogger, plenty of room for a dudette (in my shadow)

  47. smyrnadudette says:

    Thank you dis!
