Mike Castle Still Loves Bush. Why?

Filed in National by on January 29, 2008

You have to wonder about Castle at this point. Maybe the stroke really did mess up his head? Maybe rumors that Castle is going to hang it up are true?

He gets absolutely no benefit from being a big Bush guy at this point and yet he still can’t bring himself to admit that he was wrong to vote for him and wrong to continue to support him. In fact he still takes time to praise Bush.

Al Loudell quoted a forlorned Castle talking about how Bush is not going to get to finish fucking up the country 100% in today’s WaPo. WDEL also had a story teaser on in which Castle said that it was a “good speech.” Good for who? It was crap and the same crap that he has been trying to sell for seven years.

If anyone has any idea why (knowing all that we know about Bush) Castle would still want to be giving Bush blow jobs I’d be curious to hear your theories.

  2. jason330 says:

That’s probably it. Not so mysterious after all. I guess I keep hoping that he’ll one day fess up and say, “Holy Cow. Bush sucks.”

I was at a Democratic gathering last night and mentioned that Chris Bullock will be announcing his candidacy for U.S. Congress on Feb. 9th. Someone from the City made the comment that it didn’t matter because the Democrats in the City would still vote for Castle. So I’m wondering why this person thinks City Democrats support Castle???? Any one have a clue? I’m not saying this is true, just asking.

  4. jason330 says:

    Inertia.

Because apart from this blog, Dems have not called Castle out on his Bush-love.

Bush should be hung around Castle’s neck like and anchor, and every time anybody calls him a maverick the proper response is to break out in a loud guffaw.

And it’s not only Castle’s Bush-love that should be hung around his neck, it’s his long-term support for the GOP policies that are shaming the nation and bankrupting us.

If Delaware voters don’t know about Castle’s voting record it’s because there is a conspiracy of silence among elected Dem officials to leave Castle alone.

    You got that right.

  7. jason330 says:

    …and yet.

I see that Castle is not getting hurt for being a bug Bush guy – but I don’t see the upside for him. Why, out of sheer practicality, is he not trying to distance himself from Bush?

Why does he want to be seen as Bush’s last fan?

Chris Bullock will not be supported by the democratic party, and he has no chance in Kent and Sussex County. My question is why some democrats think Castle is a moderate or a centurist, and why they would like to keep him in…who are they waiting for to replace him. Do they have a dem in the wings, thats not quite ready?

  9. jason330 says:

    liz – good point.

When I let myself go into conspiracy mode I think that Castle is being kept in place in order to have Beau Biden take over when the time is right.

  10. Von Cracker says:

Bush and Rove must have some devastating dirt on him….

    But what can it be?

  11. donviti says:

I’m waiting for liz to tie Castle to the Jews some how 🙂

I think this must be wrong. In fact, I have it from a good source that this is precisely why Castle was nervous when he first heard Bullock was getting in and relieved when he thought he was getting out. Castle has said that he depends on the African American vote in NCC to slash off the vote a Dem opponent gets from the Dem voters in any case.

  15. Dana, when you wear your “Korn Tool’ party hat, please give us some fair warning.

  16. Brian says:

    Questions for Rep. Castle:

When did being a conservative come to mean these things?

Conservative (Con Ser-Vative); = more government, more spending, state of hoping for perpetual warfare with third world countries, increases taxes on those least able to afford it, while giving tax breaks to those who are obscenely wealthy.

last time I looked it meant:

Conservative (Con-Ser-Vative); = a poltical ideology that embraces a healthy distrust of government scope to do what people can do, that reduces the size and scope of government, that cuts spending and prefers commerce over warfare as a mechanism to resolve international disputes, reduces taxes and governmental centralization of power.

Did you and Karl Rove change the definition or did the entire GOP decide to simply embrace another ideology? If so, why does that ideology look like national socialism? If not, please tell me what this new ideology is; I am a little confused.

“Dana, when you wear your “Korn Tool’ party hat, please give us some fair warning.”

The warning wouldn’t register w/ you. It only works w/ people sober enough to understand it.

    Hot damn!

  20. Dana Garrett says:

I have no patience w/ Nancy. She supports KHN. I have no problem w/ anyone running for any race, but I have noticed that KHN supporters seem to believe she is entitled to run w/o any opponents, an odd stance given how KHN was treated so shamelessly by the Dem Party in 06. I defended her even though I supported Berg.

Besides, I’m not about to tutored by Delaware’s notorious Harris McDowell shill.

But like I said, she doesn’t think straight enough to understand these things.

  21. G Rex says:

I still chuckle when I remember that “Angel of the East Side” comment.

  22. X Stryker says:

Castle loves whoever Bank of America tells him to. They’ve already given him 10k so far this cycle, more than any other group.
