Worst Person in Delaware Vol. 1 #3
Spoiler alert: The Worst Person in Delaware is not Tom Carper this week. My apologies to everyone who set his or her alarm clock in order to read about Carper’s latest outrage.
Worse: Christine O’Donnell who this week dropped her gender discrimination suit. Now when I heard this I thought that her statement was going to be something like, “I should have stayed home, really. What was I thinking…a woman…working…That’s crazy.”
But Nooo. She couldn’t take the high road and simply admit that those guys at ISI were right to smack her ass and refer to her as “Baby.” (Not that I know the details of her complaint -but nobody puts Baby in a corner!) O’Donnell had to blame the male victims and go all Gloria Steinem on them claiming that “conservatives believe in civil rights.” Blasphemer!
What next? Conservatives believe in science?
Worser: Tom Ridge
His effusive praise for John McCain reminds me of the praise he lavished on George Bush in 2004 when his job was to go around yelling “TERROR…Bush is Great!!….But TERROR YA’LL”
Now, is Ridge just talking out of his ass or is it possible that John McCain is as “great” as George Bush?
Worst: Norman Oliver.
This was supposed to be Tom Carper’s week but I must be feeling like a real journalist because when I ran down this story the villain turned out to be Norman Oliver and not Tom Carper.
Here is the deal. The horrible shithead Tom Gordon has climbed out of his hole and is feeling saucy. He is making noise about running against the best county executive ever, Chris Coons. But that’s okay. It is a free country right? I mean just because you are an ex-Republican who pled guilty to the kind of corruption that gives everyone in politics a bad name doesn’t mean you can’t go around talking about running for office.
However, you also don’t have the right to be taken seriously. That’s where Oliver comes in. While Gordon should be being laughed off the public stage – Oliver who seems to have some pull within the Obama camp – pulled him up onto the stage at the Grand Opera House during the Michelle Obama event. Plucked right out of the gutter and put on stage next to actual elected officials. Nice move Norman and one that makes you THE WORST PERSON IN DELAWARE.
Congrats Norman! Your framed certificate is in the bottom of the festering hole you found Gordon in.

I couldn’t figure out whether Christine was suing because they refused to touch her or the other way around.
Does the Madame X stuff “tie” into Christine’s problems?
I would have loved to see O’Donnell’s face the first time one of the ISI guys said, “Hey honey, make yourself useful and get me a cup of coffee.”
Liberal thought is like Lawyers. Nobody likes it until you need it.
the best county executive ever

back away, slowly
OK, TG passed this mess onto Coons but Coons oversaw the mess WITHOUT a whimper as council pres.
no
Coons is for Coons and good old party DEMs.
What the rest of us get is the leftovers.
Not to say it isn’t tasty but it is expensive and after all he ran on no tax increases.
Don’t sing his praises unless you like what the developers are planning to do to us. Coons is delivering for the status quo that Gordon set.
And thanks for clearing up who was responsible for Gordon’s appearance. sheesh.
Norman Oliver used to be my City Councilperson and used to live one block from my house, across the street where the neighborhood association meets. We Never Saw The Guy.
I’m not going to disagree with you about Coons, Nancy, but it’s incorrect to say “Coons oversaw the mess WITHOUT a whimper as council pres.”
He whimpered quite a bit, and did not have the backing to do anything. I don’t remember you going to committee meetings back then. I did, and I saw a lot of 5-2 votes. (Penrose was a late convert). This followed the 6-1 vote period, when the lone holdout was Rich Abbott.
Remember, in terms of power, council president is merely an at-large council member. With that in mind, I would posit that the true enabler of Gordon and Freebery was not Coons but Karen Venezky, who until they appeared was one of the good-government forces on NCCC. She’s the one who had the moral suasion to stand up to them; she long predated Coons’ arrival. The rest followed her lead back when she decided to trust Gordonberry, whose blandishments soon sealed the deal. And once that point was reached, there was no going back; even if Venezky had rebelled, Gordonberry had the votes to defeat her. She rode the tiger and paid the price; she didn’t even try for re-election after their fall.
He was too busy playing B’ball with Mike Harkins.
Same comment as a previous “Worst person” article: as long as y’all have Tom Capano alive in the First State, the rest of the articles are just a crock.
There’s a whole prison full of “worst people” along US 13 in Sussex County (or is it in Kent?) that make any politician — other than Mr Capano, of course — look as pure as the wind-driven snow. Try to show some perspective.
tom gorden was and will be the best for NCC.
i guess you people didnt hear of all the people fired within the first year coons took over.
at least 15 women lost their jobs at rockwood without even a notice.
then he rasied taxes, not once but twice.
gorden left plenty of money for the county.
no one needed to be let go and taxes didnt need to be rasied twice.
coons needs money to pay for his 30 aids he had
hired when he was elected.why does he need 30 aids?
coons even gave prazarwra(sp?) a job so after
his two years he could get a pension.
he did that, stayed two years, and left, and fired people along the way at NCC.
coons is just as dirty as any politican.
i say he is
worst for delaware.
I’m guessing that you are one of the 15. Perhaps you were fired for poor spelling, grammar and punctuation.
Tom Gordon was and is an embarrassment to New Castle County.
Re SharonStone’s semi-intelligible post above: Now we know what Ron Williams reads like with a ‘nom de plume’ and w/o an editor.
at least 15 women lost their jobs at rockwood without even a notice.
WTF – before Gordon NO county employees worked at Rockwood; it was run by volunteers.
