Allan Loudell Supports McCain?

Filed in National by on February 25, 2008

Dear Allan,

I think you are great, but I might have to remove that question mark if I hear more drive time reports like tonights.

Now, I didn’t hear the whole drive time news, but what I heard was unsettling. First off, when Rakestraw was asked about her thoughts on the Democratic race he had to jump in a make sure Rakestraw’s critique of Clinton was answered with a parallel critique of Obama. Can’t a critique be true on it’s own? You were asking her for her OPINION and had to throw in your opinion when Rakey failed to disparage Obama – what’s up with that?

Then the interview with the Politico guy spending 5 minutes trying to link Obama with violent fringe of the 1960s anti-war movement. WTF? Obama met with some influential Dems in his soon to be district in 1995 (you left out that note) who were in the anti-war movement in the 60’s. So freaking what? I never took you for one of those media types who thought it was your job to spread around specious Republican memes.

Do I equate bashing Obama with supporting McCain? Yes I do. Especially when you utterly ignored McCain’s horrible, terrible week. Unless I missed it, you spent most of the time bashing Obama – while there is legitimate news about McCain that you left unreported.

C’mon man. You are better that that. OR – you do support John McCain and if that is the case you should just come out and say it.

– Jason

Loudell works for WDEL which is biased. They broadcast Laura Ingram for gosh sakes. It’s taken them a while to wear Alan down but it was inevitable that it would happen. Those pay checks are habit forming.

  2. Rebecca,

Your head is in the goddamn clouds and you know it. If you had any damn sense you’d know WDEL’s news department is quite fine and, in every sense, fair and balanced. The problem with you Progressive Dems is that any coverage that could possibly be construed as a “positive” for Republicans is immediately labeled as conservative bias.

For crissakes get the hell over yourselves. Allan Loudell is the LEAST biased newsman in the state of Delaware. He’s been around this state long enough. He’s proven himself. One “slip-up” in the minds of you obnoxious, preening Progressive Dems is OBVIOUSLY reason to call him biased.

And the reason WDEL broadcasts Laura Ingraham is because she’s a cash cow who brings in the ad revenue. If we goddamned liberals had some talent then we wouldn’t be producing failed, garbage-like radio networks like Air America.

Oh Mike: this may be the first time I disagree with you! Alan Loudell and his news sources are quite right wing! He has a hellava address book gotta give him that. But supporting the ole man, ole fool, ole kook, ole crook, ole lobbylover, ole adulterer….plaaaeesse! oh, and ole war monger!

  4. jason330 says:

    Mike,

I don’t know how many elections you have to live through with Republicans pushing their BS and smears into mainstream media until the lightbuld goes off over your head? Another two? Four? Twenty?

Not me. No more “Al Gore inveted the internet.” No more, “John Kerry didn’t earn his goddam medals.” No more of that shit. I will not have it. Everytime Loudell pushes this right wing crap on the air he is getting called on it. Get used to it.

So maybe you should get over yourself.

Did you hear even hear the broadcast ?

    Okay then

  5. Rebecca says:

    Mike,

I enjoy Loudell’s news most of the time. But if he’s out of line he needs to be called on it. Repeatedly. Especially if the bosses are all Republicans and Alan has to listen to Rick everyday. He needs to be reminded about being objective.

For thirty years the right-wingers have pounded on the “liberal” media until they had them so cowed that they lead the drum beat on Weapons of Mass Destruction. WMD’s that didn’t exist. But our press went along with the myth.

We are not on a level playing field here Mike and we’ve got to do everything we can to remedy that. Including calling Loudell to task.

  6. Rebecca,

How about when Allan DOES go after a GOPer, like he does quite routinely by my hearing? How about when he DOESN’T go after a Dem? Does that mean he’s liberal? Does that mean he’s biased towards Democrats? Bias does exist in every way, but I’m telling you, a right-wing bias Allan Loudell does not have. So he provoked your ire during one interview. The way it foams you all up at the mouth, I hope he does it again real soon.

  7. jason330 says:

    Mike –

How many elections you have to live through with Republicans pushing their BS and smears into mainstream media ?

    You never said.

  8. I don’t quite understand the point of your question. I made a point that calling Loudell biased is ridiculous. In our microcosm of media here in Delaware, I don’t feel Loudell’s commentary comes anywhere close to that of the big-time corporate media players.

For the record, I’ve lived through four presidential campaigns where I’ve been wholly cognizant of the process. Again, I don’t see how that’s relevant to the commentary at hand. Though I’m sure you’re going to attempt to ”learn” me.

  9. jason330 says:

I’m not going to undertake that sisyphean task. I stand by the original post and my comment #4

    For everyone else,

Loudell is a big fish in a small pond. If he starts (however innocently) buying into right wing frames and passing along right wing smears and we don’t call him on it, we only have ourselves to blame when those smear infect the thoughts of people who don’t pay much attention and become a part of your water cooler conversations at work.

  10. liz allen says:

Luddel is the news man! Not the entertainment shows of “mock radio”. Luddel is supposed to be non partisan unbiased as the news is delivered. When Luddel was at WILM he did they same thing! Used the same ole contacts!

People have to understand that WDEL is republican biased, just like WILM!

Did you ever hear Ludel speak out against the invasion of Iraq! Or bring the other side to the airwaves while the corporate media was in bed with Bush and the military industrial complex.

When Ludell brings on a out of town newspaper person, I check that website to determine which side of the political spectrum they are. 9 out 10 on are the right! Where is the balance!

Blah blah blah corporate media! Blah blah republican bias! Blah blah mispeled words, bad grammer, I have satalite TV! Blah blah blah!
