and Impeachment is off the table because????

Filed in National by on June 6, 2008

Here’s a statement from Democratic Committee Chairman Jay Rockefeller: “Before taking the country to war, this Administration owed it to the American people to give them a 100 percent accurate picture of the threat we faced. Unfortunately, our Committee has concluded that the Administration made significant claims that were not supported by the intelligence. In making the case for war, the Administration repeatedly presented intelligence as fact when in reality it was unsubstantiated, contradicted, or even non-existent. As a result, the American people were led to believe that the threat from Iraq was much greater than actually existed.

Senator Biden should be the VP or Secretary of State. Had he been, I am sure this would not have happened. What mess.

  2. anon says:

No way Biden for VP or Secretary of State. Biden wants to use “colonizing” as a way to deal with Iraq….what a fool. Does he not care what the Iraqis want? How is that for being democratic? Biden needs to explain his trip to Pakistan when the $100,000 was delivered to the Taliban or the so called terrorists right before 911…I don’t trust him. We tried to tell him how wrong he was for voting for this war. He was receiving calls to his office from his constituents 7 to 1, and he went with Bush…so how should he have any place in a “change” government. Hell No Joe. Obama needs to find people who didnt vote for the war…not those that did.

We even held discussions in his Wilm. office, for which he didnt show up for. His staff werent even taking notes while we had about 30 people there expressing our displeasure. Sorry, Joe is old hat, old democrat political machine…no change here.

Agree totaly with anon, Joe is a war forever hawk, he does not care a whit the cost to our world prestige or our economy. Question, what is Joe`s stance on torture, on a free and viable palestining state, ; answer the same as bush. What we would get is another Condi Rice.

  4. Mike McK. says:

Joe strongly condemned Bush and the administration on their torture stances. I also didn’t know Palestine could be a verb ;-).

  5. RAY K> says:

sorry about the typo Mike it`s late, however I do not recall any condemnation of torture coming from the mouth of Joe biden , could you be more spicific. I know for a fact there was never a strong condemnation of the war in Iroq, and that`s reason enough to keep him out of the barack cabinet.

  6. thanks for joining the fray guys! nice to see some new blood!

and I mean that not in a Dick Cheney disturbing way

Actually, Biden asked Bushco directly in 2003 to tell the American people the cost this war occupation would have in life, treasure and time in Iraq. His plan is to Federalize the Iraqi factions not colonize them. You have said this before and it is nuts.
Bushie is trying to colonize the Iraqi factions with forcing them to a long-term ok to US ‘protection’.
Please God that they hold off until the US elects Obama into office and gets this mess straightened out – with Biden’s help.

  8. TRUTH TELLER says:

How did we get from impeachment to Joe??
To answer the question the reason it’s been off the table is because of two Dem Wimp’s Nancy and Harry.
Dosen’t anyone in this party have any balls?

  9. Dominique says:

Joe Biden spoke forcefully against torture. I specifically remember him getting hot under the collar about how those policies put his son and any other members of the military at risk. .

Here’s a little Biden history for you: the first time he rean he sent ‘hawk’ lit to my friend, a registered R) out in Hockessin and ‘dove’ lit to me a Dem in the city. She was a Quaker and we met at Mother’s United for Peace (thank you June).

That’s the main reason I don’t vote for him unless he gets some completely unacceptable R opposition….like when John ‘the Chambers Dalrling’ Burris reared his head.

As for Beau Beau being in any danger….how? he was out at NCC airport writing last will and testaments for others being shipped to war zones.

In my opinion Beau Beau’s ‘service’ reminds me greatly of the AWOL Bush tries to clain as ‘service’.

Just like ‘Tortunin’ Tom’……these elected may vote to send your family member(s) but certainly not their own flesh and blood.

The Pelosi-Reid team have been a MAJOR disappointment. The first woman Speaker, yada, yada, yads. It must be one enormous circle jerk down in DC.

Hopefully, prez-elect Obama will not give the Bushco pardons…..is it too early to start a petition, email assualt, or whatever letting the newbees know what the people want done to these jackasses? I think not.

please try to curb your venom when you talk about things you don’t know anything about.

You know, Jay Rockefeller is utterly complicit in this mess — he wasn’t all that useful in getting Pat Roberts (when Roberts was chair) to release this Phase II report when they had it and Rockefeller has been chair since 2006, and now he releases this. AND remember that Rockefeller had access to all of the intelligence before the war and he still voted for the AUMF. So this is a bit too little too late for me.

As much as I’d like for these guys to be impeached, dressed in orange jumpsuits and hauled off to Gitmo, I do understand the political calculation of NOT doing it. And impeachment could very well make a martyr out of GWB — the same way that Clinton was made into a martyr and emerged from that entire business with some of the highest approval ratings of his terms. And kept those ratings until he left. Giving Mr. 25% an opportunity to redeem himself without addressing the fixing of any of his failures is sorta crazy.

There is no difference in these parties….one snake with two heads! And some in this blog act like they have a memory of Joe runing the first time. He actually did send different mailings to R and D’s. He has never apologized to the Delaware Peace movement, when our calls were 7 to 1 against this war. Thats a fact.
Joe Biden has always been a hawk….and he needs to explain why he was in Pakistan when the $100,000 was delivered before 911…even Bhutto spoke of that, and it has been documented in many books re: 911!

Rockefeller, Biden, Pelosi, Reid, Feinstein and Clinton all knew the truth about Iraq, before Bush invaded. They knew as he was lying, that he was lying….

The warmongers are now using the same propaganda to attack Iran as they used for Iraq. McMad and Bush are evil twins. Vincent Buglosi (former LA Proscecutor) has written a book on the war crimes of George W. Bush where he calls him a murderer. Now my question, all those that voted for the Iraq war, which they knew was totally fake….all had a copy of the NIE report by 16 US military agencies…..that denounced the Bush lies as they were being told. A compliant press, a compliant senate/congress…they are all guilty. None should be in a “new cabinet”……they should be sent packing.

  14. liz allen says:

Casandra; Bush has set up an “empirical presidency”. War crimes, crimes against humanity, violation of our Consitution and international law….impeachment is the ONLY remedy under the Consitution. John Conyers had a hearing stating that if “Bush attacks Iran we will impeach”….oh yeah….John why arent you doing it now…so the next president doesnt have these precedent setting violations to start a brand new presidency!

  15. Pandora says:

Cassandra, I agree. Now is not the time.

  17. Hey, Susie Que#16, that was not opinion. You were attempting to articulate a ridiculously inadequate comparison between someone who went AWOL and someone who served our country with distinction.
