Did Charlie Black actually say…?

Filed in National by on June 23, 2008 51 Comments

Okay, we all knew they thought it. But did anyone actually think anyone would be stupid enough to say it out loud? On national security McCain wins. We saw how that might play out early in the campaign, when one good scare, one timely reminder of the chaos lurking in the world, probably saved McCain […]

Windpower Political Theatre on Wednesday

Filed in National by on June 23, 2008 8 Comments

We are at a crossroads again.  The legislature is still dragging its feet on giving Russ Larson permission to approve the Bluewater Wind deal.  We need to get this done. On Wednesday, at 6:30AM, I am planning to be down at legislative hall to plant 150 pinwheels to represent the 150 wind turbines that have […]

Mall Question

Filed in National by on June 22, 2008 13 Comments

So if black students in the 60’s were able to sit at a lunch counter and be refused service, what is the legal difference between that and 16 year olds going to the mall and just sitting there?  If it is trespassing (being young and in the mall on a Friday night), why wasn’t it […]

Katha Pollitt Knows Dom?

Filed in National by on June 22, 2008 2 Comments

Small world… Are there feminist Hillary supporters who hate Obama so much they’ll vote for McCain just to show the Democratic Party how ticked off they are? Yes, and I get e-mails from all five of them. Seriously, I’m sure there are female Hillary Clinton voters who will go for John McCain in the general […]

Where are the McCain bumper stickers?

Filed in National by on June 22, 2008 42 Comments

No, seriously, where are they? This morning when I took my walk I decided to play the bumper sticker game. (I know, pathetic.) Since I am living in Fenwick for the summer and 99% of my neighbors are republican (not an exaggeration) I truly expected to find at least one McCain bumper sticker. Lord knows, […]

I’ve been meaning to give props to Nancy “vocal minority” Willing. Paul Clark gave her a backhand-five when he was interviewed by Loudell.
