A closer look

Copeland said some bloggers asserted that Sen. Harris McDowell, who chaired the committee, was trying to undermine the agreement.

“I think that [Denn] reads too many blogs,” Copeland said.

He said his desire to explore all avenues of renewable energy is indicative of his comment that all options should remain on the table.

He called the accusations by Denn a “negative tact” and “demonstratively wrong and easily proven.”

“I wish [Denn] would get his facts straight,” Copeland said. “I was in favor of the Bluewater Wind vote on the floor of the Senate, so I wish he would start from ground zero and get things right.”

wow, what an accusation, as if getting your information in Delaware should rest solely on the snooze journal. Ohhhh, Mr. Dupont Copeland you are a silly one.

  1. TommyWonk says:

Perhaps if Charlie Copeland read some of those blogs, he’d be more familiar with the record of his opposition to the Bluewater Wind project.

  2. Jason330 says:

Copeland is throwing too many softballs all of a sudden. He hasnoe embarked on wrecking his shot at Mike Castle’s seat (which was his ultimate goal in the first place.)

  3. Jason330 says:

Btw Donviti is kicking ass and everyone needs to read Tommywonk demolish Copeland.

  4. FSP says:

Charlie Copeland voted for the Bluewater Wind proposal the only time he had the opportunity to do so.

Some would say BWW and Delaware both benefited greatly from those who tried to make the deal as good as possible for Delawareans.

  5. Joe M says:

    Dave,

Yes, they did both benefit from those that made the effort to better and complete the deal. Copeland had nothing to do with that part of it, he just voted for it when it was a foregone conclusion. That’s not effort, that’s the least he could do.

  6. TommyWonk says:

Actually Dave, Copeland had another opportunity to vote on the Bluewater project when he voted for the one-sided committee report that was written with the intention of killing the deal.

Copeland did not try to “make the deal as good as possible.” He tried to stop the entire process and force us start over. Read the report he voted for.

  7. rsmitty says:

he said…he said…my momma is better than your momma…bitch bitch bitch…blah blah blah.

The one, definitive truth to all of this yapping is that this may be one of the best Lt. Gov races in this state in a loooooooonnnnnnnnnnnng time. The winner gets to watch drawers get stuffed. Yippeeeee!

  8. Tom,

Don’t try to reason with Dave. He’s in full-on parrot mode on this issue and you’re not likely to get anything other than pre-scripted claptrap from him. If we only had some windmills now to harvest the hot air he’s blowing…

  9. FSP says:

Tom, you are entitled to your opinion of a report that carried no weight at all.

In the end, the public record shows, free of anyone’s opinion, that Delaware and BWW both got a great deal, and Charlie Copeland supported and voted for that deal the only time he had a chance.

If no one asked questions about or challenged the deal, and it went through on the first attempt, NO ONE would have been better off. Not Delawareans, not Delmarva Power and not even Bluewater Wind.

  10. In the end, the public record shows

Public Record? In delaware? Like that means something…you are a joke dave.

  11. G Rex says:

Wait, I thought Carney was supposed to get all the credit for BWW?

  12. Jason330 says:

let’s pretend Copeland wasn’t trying to kill the deal by voting for McDowell’s report. Let’s pretend that Copeland really wanted wind power but was being sneaky about.

Why, then, did he take part in those secret meetings with Randall Speck? Why, during the Speck grilling of the PSC, did Copeland tell Karen P that he knew what was going down and was okay with it?

  13. secret meetings? but what does the public record say jason? That’s what matters

  14. FSP says:

“Why, then, did he take part in those secret meetings with Randall Speck?”

“Secret” meetings in public restaurants while on the way to Legislative Hall? Legislators meet with different people all the time. Maybe Speck (paid for by McDowell & DeLuca) was trying to convince Sen. Copeland of his position. Should Copeland not listen to both arguments on an issue?

  15. here we go again with the restaurant defense

  16. Jason330 says:

Maybe copeland rides an enchanted unicorn too?

  17. FSP says:

Seriously, who has a “secret” meeting in the middle of the ChesDel?

  18. Anyone willing to eat at that friggin’ hole can’t be of sound mind.

  19. FSP says:

    See what I mean?

  20. Jason330 says:

BTW. Everyone who writes about McDowell’s report (which Copeland voted for) should follow Copeland’s lead and call it the “last Coffin Nail” report.

  21. copeland rides on a genetically modified teflon horse yes

  22. Dana Garrett says:

Charlie Copeland indicated on WDEL gis opposition to the BWW deal but not the concept pf wind power. In other words, he opposed a real plan but only supported an idea.

But he supports oil rigs off the coast of DE. About that he is perfectly clear and he even outlined a plan (conditions) for making it possible.

Imagine the oil slick lapping up on the shores of Rehoboth. That would be OK by Charlie Copeland.

  23. OHHH, poodle beach and an oil slick!

  24. FSP says:

“But he supports oil rigs off the coast of DE. About that he is perfectly clear and he even outlined a plan (conditions) for making it possible.”

Ah, Dana Garrett. Still making up words that other people didn’t say and attributing them as truth. Nice to know nothing’s changed.

  25. Dana Garrett says:

FSP tutoring others about telling the truth? ROTFLMAO!!!

Let’s look at the evidence from the NJ. Copeland’s A-OK w/ drilling off DE’s coast:

“Copeland’s comments were made at an event in Delaware on Wednesday, when Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty spoke in support of Republican candidates. Copeland, when addressing drilling off the Delaware coast, said he wouldn’t “take it off the table.”

Here is the plan and conditions under which he finds it acceptable:

“Copeland said at the event that the drilling would have to take place more than 15 miles offshore to avoid the shipping channel, and since no exploration had been done in that area, it would take years before it could be possible.”

  26. Polenta says:

Dana: “Charlie Copeland indicated on WDEL gis opposition to the BWW deal but not the concept pf wind power. In other words, he opposed a real plan but only supported an idea.”

Awwww….that’s so cute!!!! You still believe in the BWW fairy!!

    NEVER GOING TO HAPPEN.

Windpower will….maybe. But BWW was and is a scam.

They’ll be gone inside of the two year exit window.
