  1. FSP says:

I get the “Two Americas” thing now: one for his wife, one for his mistress.

  2. Jason330 says:

    I blame Clinton?

  3. you mean if hillary had only said yes?

  4. rsmitty says:

Wait! Edwards isn’t a Republican. How’d this happen?

Must be Clinton’s fault (for you, Jason).

  5. Joe M says:

    rsmitty,

Because he had sex with a lady.

  6. TRUTH TELLER says:

At least the Dem’s do it with women and not little boys and girls or in mens rooms.

  7. June says:

OH, CRAP. I’d like to say I’ll never doubt the National Enquirer again but that’s going too far.

    Now I believe it.

  8. G Rex says:

Does this mean the story about Bill Clinton having a weekend affair with Bigfoot on an alien spaceship was true also? Wowsers!

  9. Joe M says:

Screw that! I want to meet Bat Boy!

  10. anon says:

The wuss waited until the Olympic opening ceremonies to do his perp walk interview… I hope he does it alone (w/o Elizabeth).

That sound you hear is progressives revving up their buses.

  11. Joe M says:

In all seriousness, this is a big disappointment to me. I thought Edwards was a pretty good guy and was looking forward to good works from him in the future.

I can understand having an affair. I can’t understand having an affair on a wife suffering from cancer, then lying when he was caught. If he had manned up and admitted it, I would have been disgusted for a good long while. Instead, because he lacked the integrity to own up, that’s the proverbial straw and I doubt he’ll ever gain respect again. From me, at least.

  12. Dana says:

Mr Edwards was rumored to have been interested in becoming Attorney General, but perhaps Secretary of Health and Human Services would be more appropriate. 🙂

  13. Dana says:

Joe: Mr Edwards is apparently claiming that the affair began while his wife’s cancer was in remission, and ended before the latest diagnosis.

  14. anon,

i’m not sure what anon is what anon b/c they don’t seem to be the same person today….

it will be interesting to see the revving if any. Timing is everything though. Friday, August, Olympics…NBC won’t have much time to do anything

  15. Joe M says:

    Dana,

He also said it never happened.

  16. anon says:

i’m not sure what anon is what anon

    that’s the point.

  17. pandora says:

    Don’t care. Don’t care. Don’t care. Don’t care. Don’t care. Don’t care. Don’t care.

Now, if you have info on my husband…

All you need to understand is: he was thinking with the wrong organ.

Even if Mrs Edwards was perfectly healthy, having an affair when you know that you are planning to run for president is so amazingly stupid that it can’t be considered a logical or understandable decision, at least not if you assume that he’s thinking with his brain.

  19. June says:

What is wrong with men? Why can’t they just keep their zippers, zipped?

  20. benjamin says:

I think you are all missing why this is disgusting.
The affair is his business. Him running to be our nominee and represent us and our ideas and the future of America knowing full well he had that skeleton in his closet ready to be unveiled at any time and destroying our chances to take back the White House is purely and simply loathsome.

  21. pandora says:

    And that’s what’s really troubling.

  22. Unstable Isotope says:

I’m very disappointed. I agree with what a lot of people said here – he could have cost Democrats the election. I liked Edwards, but I was never a supporter. I’m glad he has finally come clean.

    And…I’m unstable, not unstoppable.

  23. Art Downs says:

What is wrong with up-front honesty?

Grover Cleveland may have gotten a young lady great with child but he was young and single at the time and took full financial responsibility. When Republicans tried to turn this into a political football with “Ma, Ma, where’s Pa?” he made a full disclosure and the Dems could soon say: “Gone to the White House, ha, ha, ha.”

Now, after a tearful mea culpa, he is denying the paternity. Perhaps there was a bit of time-sharing.

  24. anon says:

    Pondering….

The three Dems most hated/feared by Republicans have all been brought down by sex scandals: Clinton, Spitzer, Edwards.

    Which leaves me to wonder:

    Is somebody setting up honey-traps?

Of course ultimately all three of these guys fell victim to their own turpitude, no question. But is somebody setting these women in their path?
