Candidate Forums This Weekend

Paul Baumbach and the UUFN (Newark Unitarian church) have put together an awesome series of candidate forums.

Here is the deal…

The UUFN (Newark Unitarian church) is hosting two candidate forums this weekend. Click here for a PDF flyer. The address is 420 Willa Road, Newark.

On Saturday from 1-3 we will have four candidates, for two state representative districts: James Gates, John Kowalko, Jesse Priester, and Terry Schooley. The moderator will be the Rev. Gregory Chute.

On Saturday from 3-5pm we will have four candidates, for two state senate districts: Bethany Hall-Long, John Mackenzie, Liane Sorenson, and James Weldin. WDEL’s Al Mascetti will moderate.

On Sunday we have five, one-hour panels, all moderated by WDEL’s Allan Loudell

Noon-1pm, Governor, Jeffrey Brown, and Bill Lee.

1-2pm, Lt. Governor, Charles Copeland and Matt Denn

2-3pm, US House, Mike Castle (probable but not certain), Karen Hartley-Nagle, and Mark Parks

3-4pm, US Senate, Joe Biden (via a surrogate/proxy) and Christine O’Donnell

4-5pm, Insurance Commissioner, John Brady, Tom Savage, and Karen Weldin Stewart

One question: Who are Jeffrey Brown & Mark Parks?

  1. Jack Markell is not showing up to a lot of these forums recently. It’s not to the point where it’s really bugging me, but I’m wondering why he’s ditching so many of them. He should definitely show up to this one. The UUFN debates are a must.

  2. Al Mascitti says:

He will be there, according to the Markell campaign as of this morning.

  3. Bill Lee’s got a press release about it. I know, I know. It’s a biased source, but I don’t think Lee would lie about it. Lee’s problem is he did the same freakin’ thing during the primary to Protack, so this is one issue he shouldn’t make too much of a deal about.

  4. mike w. says:

Mark Parks is the Libertarian Candidate.

  5. nemski says:

    Oh, you mean Republican. 😉

  6. Jeff Brown is from the Blue Enigma Party.

  7. jason330 says:

I thought the Blue Enigma guy dropped out.

  8. Mark Parks isn’t a Republican, he won’t sell his soul to be elected. He actually believes things, thinks for himself, and makes decisions on issues without asking his party or his political contributors how to think.

  9. RSmitty says:

Jeff Brown is not only from the Blue Enigma Party, I think he is the Blue Enigma Party. By that, I mean he is the founder (they have 200+ members, but I don’t know the exact number).

The Blue Enigma candidate that dropped out is Daniel D. Rappa, Jr (had registered for State Rep Dist 20) and I think is a co-founder or has some connection to Jeff Brown, other than party. This was all covered in the News Journal a couple of weeks ago.

FYI – Jeff Brown is running for TWO offices, which is legal (look at Joe Biden): Gov and House Rep (Dist 13).
