UPDATED: Allan Loudell Loves His Right-Wing Shills

Filed in National by on November 3, 2008

Why is he even talking to a reporter from the Washington Times?

The Washington Times is a rightwing rag and that does not even rise to the level of being a real newspaper. He might as well just ask Rush Limbaugh for his objective opinion of where the race stands. Why not ask Sean Hannity why Obama will not let him on his plane?

Knock it off Allan – you are better than that.

UPDATE: I love that Rick Jensen promo they are playing now. To paraphrase…An Obama win is good for conservatives, because after four years of failure people will realize that conservatives were right.

What a waste of space loser that guy is.

  1. RSmitty says:

So, are there any ex-girlfriends of yours that we can ask about this disturbing infatuation you have of Allan? Are there patterns?

I kid, I kid…but I am keeping an eye on you!

  2. jason330 says:

Allan might as well ask Rick Jensen what his reporters instincts tell him about the race.

He is making a mockery out of himself by interviewing these shills.

  3. pandora says:

Maybe these “shills” are the only ones willing to go on his show? (Sorry, there really was no way to write this nicely.)

  4. Geezer says:

When are you going to stop making ridiculous assertions about journalists based on nothing more than the publication they work for?

Christina Bellantoni is not a shill for anyone. She grew up in the SF Bay area, worked for a San Jose business publication covering silicon valley and used to volunteer with a group that fights domestic violence. She is no more a “shill” for the right than you are.

Get a grip, Jason. Try criticizing what she says instead of who she says it for.

  5. RSmitty says:

Maybe listen to John Watson, then. He’s incredibly fair (to your views).

Sorry, but Allan has very possibly the most well-rounded resources in the business in this region. I am very unapologetic about my respect for the man’s work. If I were to be partisan, I could complain opposite of you, but I’m not very partisan and I happen to think he is fair.

  6. jason330 says:

    Geezer,

I was shilly. Bellantoni was tearing into Obama for not letting her on his plane and saying that is was “ominous” glimpse of what the Obama administration would be like.

    Please.

  7. jason330 says:

    Randy

Blah blah blah. How many shills does Loudell have to have on befor I am allowed to make the connections in your opinion?

  8. RSmitty says:

more than you can ever count, buddy, which in your case would be 21, the first number that exceeds the count of fingers and toes! Well, unless you have extras. Do you?

    😀

  9. G Rex says:

Please, Loudell’s had reporters from the Guardian on his show, and they admit that they’re lefties.

  10. h. says:

Ha Ha !!If we are worse off in 4 years than we are now, we are all FUCKED.

    Jensen sucks elephant balls.

  11. Donsquishy says:

funny how that 4 more years also parrot’s the Skinheads…

someone should call in and mention that today…

  12. Do you complain when Allan speaks to people from magazines like The Nation?

  13. jason330 says:

Only when he talks with people from The Washignton Times.

I think I’ve been consitent on that point.

  14. jason330 says:

…because the Washington Times is a locked in peice of the GOP noise machine.

    It is not a newspaper.

  15. Same could be said about The Nation from the other side.

  16. nemski says:

MM, The Nation never pretends to be MSM. The Washington Times does.

  17. TommyWonk says:

Hey, Allan has me coming on at 5:05, so how bad can he be?

  18. I wouldn’t call The Washington Times MSM.

  19. Dorian Gray says:

The Washington Times was founded in 1982. The Nation was founded during the Civil War. Take a look at former contributors to The Nation. It is a liberal magazine absolutely, but please let’s not pretend these two periodicals are on the same playing field.

  20. G Rex says:

Dorian, the Times used to be the Washington Star, which also dates back to the Civil War. The Moonies bought it out in ’82, or at least picked up most of their staff when the Star folded. (I was living in MD at the time; I remember everyone calling it the Daily Cult.)

  21. This is becoming all too predictable.

I talked to Christina because she was one of the journalists kicked-off Obama’s plane to make room for journalists from African-American and glamour magazines.

Of course, she wasn’t happy about the whole deal, but it’s not as though she unleashed some vitriol at Obama; it’s not as though she suddenly gave credence to some of the crazy unsubstantiated stuff circulating about Obama in the right-wing blogosphere.

I consider her a ‘straight’ reporter; indeed, she’s told me about the times she’s taken “grief” from some of the WASHINGTON TIMES’ readers!

As to the point about whether this provides an “ominous” glimpse into a future Obama administration… hardly anyone disputes that Obama has run a disciplined campaign, stuck to the game plan, avoided in-staff feuding (unlike McCain or Hillary Clinton), and kept leaks to a minimum. On the plus side, sounds like a candidate who has demonstrated great skill at managing. On the minus side, does it take much imagination to fathom an Obama administration which played carrot and stick with reporters?

I defend Christina just as I defend John Nichols – who writes for The PROGRESSIVE and The NATION – but, who, I tell right-wing folks, is one of the best national political reporters in the business.

No matter that I talked to David Shuster from MS NBC Friday. Or the aforementioned John Nichols from The NATION and The PROGRESSIVE. Or someone from The NEW REPUBLIC. Or Eleanor Clift from NEWSWEEK.

I suppose I just can’t do enough “penance” to make up for having some guests, God forbid, representing conservative media outlets!

Let’s see: An Obama supporter “outed” Obama from the fundraisers’ meeting in which he talked about people from rural areas “clinging” to their Bibles and guns.

And Politico.com – owned by a right-wing outfit – nevertheless breaks news which has arguably benefited Barack Obama… like the story about the $150 K the Republicans were spending for Governor Palin’s wardrobe! Or circular Republican firing squads. Etc.

  22. jason330 says:

Thanks for commenting Allan. Being a media watchdog is a thankless job, and your graciousness makes it a little easier.

Once again. The Washington times is not a legitimate news outlet. You should not use them. When you do, I’m going to call you on it.

As long as conservatives have tons of newspapers, entire TV and radio networks (like Delmarva broadcasting) and liberals only have two hours on MSNBC and some of Al Mascitti – I don’t see what choice I have.

  23. anon says:

Compare the times he has the Nation or any other progressive mag on compared to the right wingers. Allan is playing to his right wing bosses at WDEL, they are the “republican radio station of record”. Same as Clear Channel Watson.. other than Watson (who is often right wing especially on the wars), Clear Channel is nothing but the ultr right extremes…Hannity, Rush and that god awful psycopath Mike Savage.

Thank goodness we have the blogs and other outlets in Delaware, where many of the real stories are broken.

What will WDEL and Clear Channel do when Obama wins…who will be listening to that right wing claptrap then?

  24. Al Mascitti says:

BS,”anon.” We don’t have “right wing bosses” at WDEL. If you’re not Liz Allen, you’re going to have to explain why you’re spewing exactly the same line of crap she does. You don’t know squat about the “bosses” at WDEL. And Allan doesn’t “play” to them. Grow up — or better yet, prove even a fraction of the claptrap you spew.

  25. Andy says:

“liberals only have two hours on MSNBC and some of Al Mascitti – I don’t see what choice I have.”

Al Mascitti a Liberal what a Joke

  26. jason330 says:

He is an anti-bullshitarian. Close enough for me.
