Accepting Nominations for Best Delaware Liberal Post for 2008

Delaware Liberal gained some great writers this year, saw its traffic skyrocket, and is now the first website many local politicos visit each morning (by their own admission).    With such great writers like Nemski, Jason, Cassandra, Pandora, Donhusseinsquishyviti, Liberalgeek, XStryker, and of course, myself, there has got to be one post out there that you really like, or thought was really compelling, or thought was really controversial, or whatever.

Yes, this is your chance to shower us with praise.

Tomorrow, you can hit us with bricks, as I will then accept nominations for the post you absolutely hated.

Community feedback.  It is a good thing.

Are we voting on fact or fiction?

Anything where El SquishitoVito went berserk is a winner in my book. But that would include 90 percent of his posts. Oh, well…

CASTLE GUARDEDLY OPTIMISTIC ABOUT PROSPECTS FOR MARITAL SEX

    February 29th, 2008 by jason330 · 9 Comments

Washington, DC– Congressman Michael N. Castle today recognized his wife’s cleavage. Congressman Castle said, “The cleavage was probably intentional and I am allowing myself to believe that it had a deeper meaning. While I have concerns that our schedules make the prospect of coitus a long shot, I am hopeful that a glass of wine with dinner and perhaps a decent movie on HBO could help put an end to a rather long dry spell.”

I will try and review all posts tonite by the light of the moon, and send word by AM–is the 12th the cut-off?

Also, don’t be humble…are there some posts you want at the top of my pile?

  5. Joanne Christian

    Well thank you Not Jason.

  6. Okay, that was me and I’m not nomiating it, but I was looking for an old Liberalgeek post from that period and I came across that one.

  7. jason330

I guess I killed the thread.

    Sorry DD.

  8. Miscreant

“Fuckonomics” for both best and worst. It’s such a tough choice for worst – like a Chinese buffet.

The live-blogged birth of DomViti was, in his own words, on like Donkey Kong.

This is my pick. This was awesome blogging by geek. He got the video posted within minutes of doing the interview.

    Liberalgeek interviews Chris Lu

This and his interview with Nicole Dursey (sp?) are my picks.

I was personally fond of the DV one where he’s starting an apology, with a surprise!

I have an idea. I can’t remember many posts, especially ones that were done almost a year ago. How about each poster nominate some number (like 5) of their own posts that they’re particularly proud of?

  13. Yoda

    Not wise rating stories is.

  14. No way am I nominating my own stuff or submitting it for your consideration. But considering I haven’t been writing here that long, you could always just click on my name from the sidebar if you wanted to review my work.

  15. Joanne Christian

Gang–I am still here “reviewing work”–I am at DV right now…….does this count for community service?

  16. Remember the one that had something like 400 comments? The one that kept resurfacing because that Clinton supporter/campaign worker from NY kept pulling it back up and adding comments weeks later? That one should win. It was a classic. Of course, I don’t even remember what the original post was about.

Maybe you could split it into two awards: best post and best comment thread.

Because Dom if you don’t come, then I have to hire 2 bodyguards, instead of you distracting all these DL’ers with your no nonsense fish woman obscenities, and well reasoned argument. I just now realized, I may be the only card carrying R there (if I make Geek’s cut list), and I have a bum rotator cuff–and wont’ be able to run real fast, if LG requests heels. Smitty hasn’t committed yet. I don’t know how fast he runs in heels.

  18. I nominate the 4 Points of View on the Windfarm issue, the breaking news on the eminent domain with the live blogging on the veto override was a close second.

  19. Joanne Christian

Wait a minute–I’m still working on this–is it over?

  20. jason330

No. It continues. Everyday is “tells us how much you like us day” here at DL!

  21. Joanne Christian

    Still pushing along…..

  22. Joanne Christian

    Done.

  23. I can’t wait to read your choices! Hope it was worth your time… and your sanity.

  24. Joanne Christian

And in the doghouse. Left home last pm and went to Bullseye for a break(thank you UI-I found it, but saw your directions later, were you there?), after dropping daughter 2 at party, and running return to Staples. Pick up daughter, and back on this. I MUST make dinner tonite. They are using those words around here…obsession, addiction, intervention, timers on computers…I even ate 2 donuts!!!
And you bums fed my addiction! Let me make dinner tonite, but I’ll be back….because I have to.
P.S. Did you have to ask for this nomination during the holidays? Geez, even “Man of the Year”, is at the end of the year!!!

  25. Unstable Isotope

    Joanne,

No, I wasn’t at Bullseye last night, but I’ve been there before. Was there something interesting there last night? Hopefully I’ll get to meet you at the Inauguration Party.

  26. Joanne Christian

Interesting? Yea…Kilroy in person! And Mike Matthews, and Fix Red Clay, and….

A real relaxing time, sorry you weren’t there.

    Dear Delaware Liberal,

You have entertained, enlightened, and educated me all year. Now you ask for the Best Blogging Post of 2008 (up until 12/11 I believe). Well, I took you really, really seriously and read and reviewed all you put out there. The time has now come to ask, “Do you want my answer, do you even care, and are you ready?” Because it may be lengthy for some, please respond individually (yes Stryker you are included), if you want public notification at this site, private notification to your e-mail, or a don’t bother/don’t care no notification. All answers should be received by midnite, unless someone sends word that Donviti is getting lucky, and then of course I will be flexible. Thank you for this chance to do a year in review thru your eyes. No response will default to no judgement pronounced. Awaiting until midnite……and then I have to get on with this life!!!

  28. Your opinion is valued, Joanne. Besides you put in so much time. My vote is that you post your thoughts here.
