Not News: Connolly Resigns

U.S. Attorney Colm Connolly resigns. Connolly is best known for being one of the lawyers that prosecuted Tom Capano. His resignation was expected.

    Most US Attorneys do resign prior to the inauguration of a new administration. Indeed, it is a scandal when they don’t resign, like that wingnut prosecutor out in Pittsburgh.

    If he were smart, he would challenge Beau Biden in 2010, or if Beau is otherwise occupied (as in running for a federal office of some sort), then he would be a shoo in for AG.

    U.S. Attorney positions ARE political. If they weren’t, Connolly wouldn’t have resigned just as the new administration came to power. It’s called presidential prerogative.
